What would be the proper carb, or a good carb to put on my 74 GTO, 350 automatic, with an Edelbrock performer pontiac intake? It currently has a Holley - I would prefer to go back to a rochester Quadrajet. If a rochester quad is used should it be a 4MC, 4MV or what? Does anyone know what was original? Basically I want a carb that would still allow proper height for the shaker scoop. Any suggestions?

I don't know the relative height of the e-p manifold compared to the original cast iron, but putting a factory 455 HO aluminum manifold on my '74 required some shaker work.

I had to move to the Rochester due to the shaker as well. I purchased a 74 455 rochester from the pontiac man and didn't have to do any mods to the shaker but i'm using a Holley Street dominator intake. The Edlebrock should be about stock hight as well...

The correct carb number would be 7044268. I have one for sale listed in this thread. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=551475
