I've never seen the hidden vin numbers. That thing is just a rusted hulk. Tags are probably in the ashcan and long gone. What would you do with all that anyway? Desireable judges are cars that you can drive. Hulks that far gone and without ID's are worth about 4cents per pound, delivered.

Pontiac is just catching up to all the fraud... people have been doing this to corvettes chevelles, fords & mopars for a very long time.......

Here's a 70 GTO Ram Air car that was probably wrecked sometime in the 70's. I got a couple of parts off it in the early nineties when I was restoring my Judge. The vin is missing, just like all the other muscle cars in this yard.

Right on Sweet. Get this: I knew a local Corvette restorer who told me this almost unbelievable story. The Corvette guy sold a set of pistons and rings to a customer for a427 Corvette motor. The customer called later and said the pistons and rings were too big for the block and he has the wrong parts. The Corvette guy goes to the customers shop and checks it out.

The Corvette guy checks the motor casting and numbers and they all checked to a 427 Corvette motor. My Corvette guy then checks the parts and box numbers. They check fine. The guy calls the parts person, they confirmed he was sent the right 427 pistons and rings. What now!!

The Corvette guy goes back to the customer and again looks at the casting and block numbers. Everything checked. Then the Corvette guy looks closer at the casting and thought it looked alittle strange. The Corvette guy then takes a screw driver, places it up next to the casting and taps it with a hammer. Guess what, the casting falls off. Epoxy was used to hold it on the block.

After the epoxy was removed, the Corvette guy observed that the original casting had been ground off and the block restamped. So what was this mystery block? A 396. The customer had been taken thinking he bought a 427 and in reality had a 396.

True story folks and it is really scary to think some people will go to these lengths to cheat someone. With the value of our Pontiacs at a all time high, fraud is always possible. So please be careful as Sweet mentioned!!!

Worse yet is when guys weld on new casting numbers... then it is almost impossible to tell...
