Default wheel refinishers in bay area

Was wondering if anyone is highly recommended in the bay area? OR, how difficult is it to refinish R2's?

Gary Steel did mine a few years ago and they came out perfect. At shows, I get asked all the time who did the wheels. He is in TN and despite me being in NJ the shipping wasn't that bad. His name out here is BUQUICK or his web site www.gsrestorations.com

Just did mine myself. Good blue painters masking tape, a new exacto knife & some patience & they came out as good as most anyone else would have done...

I was considering doing mine myself...what paint did you use (type or brand and color)? How did you prep? I used cans years ago and the paint looked great but wasnt durable. I'd be willing to spray myself but the masking on R2 is enough to where you wanna get it right the first time!

Any pictures?

Had the rims sandblasted by a local company that gets then real clean. Dupli-color
Grey primer. I bought the wheel paint kit from PY or Ames, don't remember which. It consists of two cans of silver paint, three small cans of charcoal paint & some stickies to mask the wheels with. The stickies are nearly worthless. I used masking tape and an exacto knife. I did get the Dupli-color codes needed to paint them the right color.... I bought some Duplicolor Clear & have cleared them a couple of times to protect the paint... Your local NAPA Auto Parts Store should be able to get this paint for you...

I've done two sets, here's a shot of one I just finished this week.

Got the wheels sandblasted, then I primed the entire wheel and painted the inside and backside of the rim with Rustoleum products (gray sandable primer and pewter gray gloss protective enamel). I painted the faces with Eastwood Argent Silver and Eastwood Charcoal Gray, masked with Scotch Blue masking tape, then wet sanded with 1000 grit and polished with white polishing compound by hand. Still need to put a coat of wax on 'em.

Not show quality but good enough for what I need. Total cost for the two wheels was about $40 in materials and about five hours of labor.
