brake hose bracket - plated?
I am starting to put the front end of the Judge back together. It is a non-power drum brake car and these are the brackets that hold the flex hose. Previous owner painted these "gold". I know that's incorrect. Are they supposed to be plated 'gold' or cadmium? Where do I send them for that, or is there a kit I can use to do that at home.
Thanks, Frank

Most of the time these were bare steel or phosphate and most had black paint sprayed on them after final assembly when they went to black out the frame. Lots of the under side parts were also dipped in a black dye - on low mile cars you can see the drips, runs, and streaks in the parts. The frames and control arms were all dipped and so was the core support and inner fenders. When you blast the parts you also see it because it is built up in all the corners and drip edges - there is always a hard spot you have to work on to get it all off, usuall an inside corner. Guys that plate parts are hard to come by but bobs boosters does small lots of stuff 586 774 8883 MI
