vinyl top cleaning
I have tryed several different ways to clean my top .never satisfied
anyone have any successful ways they would like to share . my top is 19 yrs old and in good condition ,just seems dirty and dull ,I never use armerall or let the veh sit in the sun ,black just want to clean it ,doesn't need to be redyed I looked through the body repair threads also

Bleche white and then use a good interior protectant not Armorall. I like Carbrite products. You can catch the local dealer at a New car dealership or possibly online.

I used to use some stuff Turtle Wax had out in the 80's called black wax or something like that and it was great and of course they don't make it any longer. Just get some shoe polish paste (not the liquid) and go to it and it will turn out looking brand new.

For cleaning I have never found or used anything better than Tough Stuff, terriffic cleaner.
Uncertain how to treat the top. |

That turtle wax stuff was great. I always used it on my convertible way back when.
And why not armorall? Can somene explain |

Try 303 Aerospace Protectant - get it at NAPA, great stuff - or there's always Meguair's #40....also great stuff, all I ever used on my 'vert top...

When I got my Grandville it had been sitting for 6 yrs in a barn... and the top was ok ,but faded i just took some regular black shoe polish and rubbed it in real good dont use too much or it bunches up let everything dry good and then afterwards use mink oil and it will look like new!

Westley's white cleaner....really for white wall's.
Works wonders. Then I use a Maguire's Vinyl shiner.

alot of good tips ,may try the shoe polish in a small srea ,
I work at a new car dealer , they just have pretty it up crap. used car I have Meguair's works ok ,there is build up in the texure ,I wanted to clear it out . |

I used McGuires Vinyl Cleaner on my Dad's '96 Lincoln. It was more of a dark gray cloth than vinyl but the product worked great for getting all the white residue and other stains off from Armorall or something equally as nasty. He couldn't believe it, nor could I. FYI, I've read more than one place to throw your Armorall products in the trash. I use Mothers or McGuires products.
