Oh, come on, Lynn...the aftermarket blocks out there will take any factory part, why wouldn't they be a Pontiac? You talk of stroke, well...NHRA Super Stock rules allow for increases in stroke, albeit they are minute...longer stroke no longer make it a Pontiac? We respect you SS guys for running hard with factory parts...why the disrespect for guys that run even harder with aftermarket parts?

No disrespect intended. You must acknowledge the difference between aftermarket stuff and real Pontiac stuff. I love the aftermarket stuff. But, let us call it what it really is.

John Langer is doing a great job with a terrific engine builder. I support him 100%.

Super Stock engines have non-factory parts in them. Everybody choses their own point to draw the line. I can't really see that there is a black & white answer to this debate.

Let me propose this test for the Pontiac fans: When we get the Boss Bird done, I'll lift the body for you. If you feel happier that it is a Pontiac facsimile engine instead of a Chrysler hemi facsimile, then it qualifies as a Pontiac. Agreed?

I support you guys 100%. However, I think you guys get the point between an OEM casting and a Billet alum head motor.

Understood.........and I really feel good about the fact that so many people are trying so many different things with Pontiacs.

If someone reproduced the entire 1970 SOHC 427 Pontiac Hemi engine would you call it a Pontiac or some sort of a custom race engine.
I would call it a Pontiac,its based on a Pontiac.Hell that thing was a factory Pontiac and it was more advanced than some full custom race engines.
We have devolved.
What could have been.The big dogs are still playing around with pushrod engines and that thing was around in 1970.
Make it again and the tables are turned.
