2004 GTO Door Lock Actuator Failure
My '04 has 6,772 miles on it with NO problems except failure of the driver's side power door lock. It can be operated manually, but not electrically. This is a common problem with '04-'06 GTO's. Has anyone been successful in getting GM to warranty replacement of the door lock actuator? If not, how much does a dealer charge to replace the actuator and how much does GM charge for a replacement part?

Partial answer to my question: Cost for GM dealer to replace door lock actuator is $293.30. Actuator costs $154.74. Time needed is 1.30 hours. Dealer suggested I call the Pontiac Service toll-free number to plead my case for warranty replacement.

Did you take door apart and made sure it is the actuator? I am asking becouse there is a similar problem but the mechanism is at fault.

Thanks for the response, but I have no interest in taking the door apart on my '04 GTO with 6,777 miles on it. I called Pontiac Service 800 number to let them know I was aware of failure of the power actuators on the '04-'06 GTO's being a common problem. They insist I have the dealer diagnose, which I did today. Yes, the actuator is the problem. Diagnosis is $50 plus $293.30 for parts and labor. They committed to "helping" bear the cost. I'll keep you tuned in.
Good news is---This is the ONLY problem I've had with this '04 GTO. Bad news is---costs too much to fix it and it shouldn't happen on a car with 6,777 miles on it.

Dealer received part today, called me, and replaced the actuator. Final result? ZERO cost. They called it warranty, including the $50diagosis. Sometimes, it pays to pursue a problem like this in a reasonable, insistent way. I saved $343!!!
All you GM-bashers take note!!
