Looks pretty secure. Might be better if you could tie down the frame rails in the center somehow. There's going to be a lot of lift under the body at speed as well, so do watch that.

What was the purpose of the plastic over the trunklid before you were stripping it?

I put the stripper on then the plastic.It keeps the stripper from drying out and allows it to penetrate the layers of paint.

The car is in the bodyshop! It made the 90 mile trip without incident.

Well, here's the latest. I got one door dissassembled. Got it, the right front fender and the cowl panel stripped. My body man called with some good news. I won't need to replace the driver's side quarter panel or the tail panel. Just the passenger side quarter, trunk pan, a patch in the floorbord( heater core leak?) and a transmission tunnel patch to fix a manual trans install. Whoever did the body work on the previous resto did not weld. He used pop rivets every two inches!
I also bought and installed the front brake flex hoses. That is when I found the upper control arm bumpers were not in! When I find out who was supposed to tell me to do it, I am going to let them have it. I worked 12 hours this week not counting the trip to the body shop and spent $93.50 on brake hoses and another $50.00 on stripper and other supplies.
Labor @ 235 hrs= $4,700.00
parts = $5,986.65
total = $10,686.65

When my car was restored in the mid 80s the body guy had a full 1/4 to replace the rusted part.He only used the bottom half to the panel and overlapped the metal at least 3 inches!

I am pretty sure I cut the quarter off above the roof weld seam. Also the section that the striker attaches to is still there. I cut through the tailpanel and the outer wheelhouse so all those areas can be trimmed as needed.
I think there is a tear in the trunk section right above the tailpanel. I don't think it extends out of the trunk area. I did cut the quarter panel off short of the rear window panel(trunk filler) as someone else needed that panel and, since mine is a convertible, I didn't need it. Is this clear as mud? If you look at the quarter from the back of the car there is a seam between it and the trunk filler panel. I cut the quarter to the left of that seam. I may have cut up through the inside of the sail panel too.
I will try to get pictures this weekend.

I got the other door stripped today. Only one fender and the hood to go. I tried a razor scraper today and it worked well on the flat areas. I then used stripper on the rest. Other than a few door dings and some minor rot in the front bottom the driver's door is in very good shape. Passenger door has some damage at the top, right in the body line and also a good size dent at the bottom midway between the front and back.

I wish it was that kind of stripper. Two things I have learned recently are:1, Don't put your finger near the shaft on a spinning DA sander and 2, Don't use aerosol stripper with a fan blowing on you.

Well, I stripped the other fender, glove box door and ashtray this week. Then, I took them to the body shop yesterday. 6 hours labor.
I bought the trunk floor and a 67 assembly manual this week. Cost with shipping was $382.40.
I also sold a panel from the parts car and then scrapped the remains which netted me $148.00
So the totals now stand at:
Labor@ 241 hrs= $4,820.00
parts = $6,221.05
total = $11,041.05

Nothing to report this week. They have been working on the body but I don't know what they have done to it. I have been looking for a door and other small parts. Thanks to those here that have helped me.
