I know a friend of mine just put one in his '67. I haven't really had a chance to talk to him to get the details. I think he used a Tremec but I don't know for sure..

I think Richmond makes one that is pretty much a bolt in. Look at Summit.

I thought Kiesler dealt with the tremec transmissions, not the Richmonds.

I have swapped a t56 six speed into my 78 t/a. it can be done w/ no cutting. I have a x-member specifically designed for this swap. cost for the swap is between 1500-2k for parts not including the trans. you will need to modify a lakewood or stock bellhousing or get a mcleod one. you can reuse your stock clutch setup or switch to a hydraulic one. you will need a shorter driveshaft. you can have your tail housing modified to mechanical speedo or get a mechanical to electrical converter.

I have a t-56 in my 71 also. It's not a very difficult swap. I made everything myself other than, the Mcleod bell housing adapter. It does wonders for the driveability and gas mileage. I'm getting 26-28 mpg with 3.90 gears

I too am considering the swap to 5 Spd from Auto in my 73 T/A. I gave these guys a call and they seem very knowledgeable good to deal with. A buddy of mine just bought one of their kits for his chevelle and says it is a nice kit. The prices seem pretty reasonable. I think it was around $2600 for the TKO street kit. Depending on HP a better clutch may be required. The kit comes complete everything except pedals although they do sell a pedal kit as well. Hope this helps.
