Default Leaf Spring question

Went to the local spring store for a replacement set of leaf springs for my 67 firebird convertible. They had about 50 sets of multi leaf in stock but no mono leaf. He could order them but suggested that I just have the existing ones re-conditioned. He would bend them re bush and re-paint them. Does this sound like a good idea??? Has anyone done this??? Am I better off with new??? Please let me know what you think. Thanks

This was done a lot in the earlier years so it should not be a problem and should last

You would most likely be better off than replacing them with their' springs, that's pretty certain. It's tough to get a good rear leaf that has the correct rate and ride height, search and see.

The hot ticket is to use multi-leaf springs with mon-leaf rear perches, and omit the upper isolator, having the pin go right into the perch. That positively locates the spring and ensures no movement.

Look at Landrum for leafs, or bit the bullet and go for the Global West ones. You'll be happy that you did, even if the price is hard to swallow...

Thanks... Would there be a noise issue without the isolator pads??? Would you use longer bolts or u-bolts??? Is the bottom plate the same??? Tahnks

Nope, no noise issue, and you use the same bolts and base plate. You still used the lower isolator. Instead of T-bolts, I chose to use U-bolts, felt it would be stronger.
