I've narrowed my muffler search to either of these;

Steel oval Ultra Flo 17560 20" shell 25" overall. $86
or
Stainless oval Ultra Flo 17288 20" shell 25"overall. $148

According to the Walker site the Stainless mufflers rated "street" are quieter compared to the Steel units rated "sport".

I wonder if the difference in sound justifies the difference in price?

Damn, am I having fun picking mufflers! And Jim Hands book makes it so enjoyable!!

Some difference in loudness Jeff. The Welded are 3" cores with less packing material so they were louder but let a bit more air through.

I thought I remembered reading something about being able to open up the ends of the Welded Ultra Flo to 3". I'll get the Stainless. They will look nice the way my mufflers are set with the Pipes system.

I'm also going add a small piece of pipe over mufflers outlet and into the tail pipes inlet. I never liked the way the tail pipe goes into the mufflers outlet.

Jeff, one nice thing about the Stainless Steel mufflers is they won't rust out, at all or as fast, like plain ol steel mufflers do. To me it would be worth the extra bucks for longevity.
