Default Fan / Spacer

Can anyone tell me how long the spacer was on 70 Judge with 5 blade flex fan?
1 1/2". Does anyone have an extra one laying around?

Thank you,

No information? Can anyone post a picture of your spacer so I can search ebay? I posted of picture of the fan so if you have this fan I'm looking for a picture of the spacer.

Thank you,

It also has a part number, and I'll bet there is a picture on this board of one. I can get the part number off of mine at home if SweetJudge does not have it.

Yes......I just got done repainting & polishing everything and it was alot of taping with three different colors. I followed the same procedures Jason used on the "barn resurection" GTO. Alot of work when you consider you don't even see the front of the fan. It's a silly sickness.

The one on my 71 455HO is 1 15/16 from front to back and has no part number on it. I have more then one of these on my cars and they are all the same(no part number).

I also have another one that is 2 1/2 front to back but I dont know for sure what the application is for that one it does appear have a part number 535-253.

I checked a few of my original take-off spacers and they are similar to this one.

This is the spacer that is original to my 69 Ram Air III Judge and uses the 5 blade flex fan as in the picture posted by BAB below.

Would the change in water pumps have caused the change in spacer length? Right now, I cannot remember the details of the water pump change and when it ocurred.

It is listed as 1-7/8" in the parts book (PN 9798939) and 1-15/16" long (PN 3947132). Part numbers were pulled from the assembly manual. There is no cast number on the one I have and it measures 1-15/16" long.

Those look like the spacers used with the standard, non-flex fan.

I don't know what to say. The one I pictured is exactly like the one in GOATFF71's picture. Did the 9798939 look like the 535-253 (you can barely see it to the right), only shorter? Maybe it was an early MY, late MY thing. But again, the part numbers are out of the assembly manual.

The one in the far right of HFR's picture is the same one I have as part number 535-253, the one just left of that is the same one on my car (9798939?) and is the one in my picture, I have three flex fans with this same spacer on them. It could be that this one odd spacer I have (535-253) is from a 68-69, I do know there was a water pump change in there from 68 to 69 and there are is some weird stuff going on with water pumps in those years when it comes to lengths.

Early 69`s have a water pump with the 68 length and used the longer spacer, late 69 (and up) went to the longer pump and therefore used a shorter spacer. The change was made quite early in the model year.

I have a spacer of a very early 69 GTO and it is a bit over two inches long. I am pretty sure that any Judge would have the later pump and therfore the shorter spacer.

All this applies to non clutching fan cars (AC or otherwise ordered with a clutching fan as a stand alone option)

My January Judge did come with the 2.5 inch spacer and has late October 1968 intake, heads, block. But I believe that I replaced the original water pump in the early 80's. I wish that I had kept the original pump but did not know any better back then.

All the 69's I got have the same spacer for the fan pictured above; it is 2.5" and has a part number of 535253. I would not see why this would be any different for the 70. This fan is the last part I had to restore for my engine but was dreading how many hours it would take to tape it off for the black, then again for the silver arms, then tape off all the rivets and paint again, it takes a few days at least after waiting for paint to dry and the original was all plated. So instead of all those hours I bought the Parts Place Reproduction for $100 and it is super nice and exact. It comes all painted and all the parts are plated and it even has the part number on the fan arm and the FRONT stamped in the front - I bolted on in 5 minutes and was done. Money well spent and aggravation avoided.

motorcitymusclecar, stick to knowing '69s. The '70 used one of the part numbers I've listed above, period!

Did you bother to read the post - the part number I gave 535253 is one of the 2 numbers you had listed above and is in the picture i posted - sometimes they use the same part for more than one year. Period!
