Mickey Thompson/Holley Valve Covers - Need caps
So, I scored these factory Pontiac Mickey Thompson/Holley valve covers on e-bay, which I'm really excited about, as they will replace the rusting, 80's-vintage Moroso valve covers that are currently gracing my '70 GTO hardtop. The seller said they came off his father's '70 GTO.
I'm hoping for any insight from Those Who Know Things re: dating these valve covers, and I'm also searching for correct, original caps for them. OG hardware for attaching them and NOS gaskets would be awesome, too, figure I should speak up in case anyone's got such things. Aesthetically, I'm leaning toward not touching the paint. As a compromise I've considered painting just the lower rim of the covers, where it's most flaked. My wife said "I'd leave them as they are - they're telling you they're the real deal." Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to assist in this adventure, Jeff |

Forgive the p.s., a brief web search is showing me no paint like mine, presuming later, incorrect addition, presume correct finish is bare aluminum? Not going to be protecting ageing, flaking incorrect paint, in that case.

If they were mine, I would take to a powder coater, have them glass beaded and then powder coat in a finished color you like. Perhaps leave the top of the fins natural.....

In the past I have painted them black then sanded the paint off the ribs and M/T logo. Looks pretty cool that way. I could use some original caps too for a set I have laying in the shop.

since those covers were sold originally without caps, what do original caps even look like? Is there such a thing? post a pic of what you are looking for.
