DJ would rather have the M40 anyways. Like the ramair kooter car without the a/c, ps, and power anything if I know Dan choice in cars. Even if if came that way it would be put on a shelf.

Mike, I can't recall exactly where Mark's HO Formy came from, but originally it was a Royal car.
To quote Mark: "It was built right, no ps, no pb, no spoilers, just a good light weight racer."

That would be the CA formy car. That was nicer of the two LG 4 speed cars.

Looks like a decent piece with a TON of small/minor issues.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...spagenameZWDVW >Nicely optioned (none?) It's a Go FAST HO! >Original fenders is GOOD. >I LIKE the "cheap seats" What sucks: > RED plug wires on a 50K car? NOT! > Wrong plating on booster & alt.fan > Emissions decal on the wrong side of hood latch > 1980/81 gauge bezel > rear spoiler endcaps need a trim on the bottom > parking light fillers should be body color. It was likely restored by a non-Pontiac guy. There's NO mention of cars origin or how much rust needed to be removed. Being from the east coat,it SURELY had it's share. Even with it's issues,I still like it. Needs MORE BETTER pics. Wonder if there will be any takers at 50 grand,a week before Christmas in todays economy. 2Many, you have spent waaay too much time out west looking at Van Nuys cars. I think I have pretty good data to suggest the following;
Park Lamp fillers were body color on most all 70s They were body color on Van Nuys 71s They were silver on Norwood 71s I would be interested in anyone else's observations on known original cars - Might be worth starting a new thread.... |

Argent Silver parking lamp fillers would be correct on this car, IMO.
However, to add to the list - incorrect engine color and of course the non-OE exhaust system.

When I replaced them on my 70 T/A in the mid 80's,I left them that color (natural) & quite liked it that way. (a bit more contrast going on) Do we have any cold hard facts to back this up,or was it just that they ran out of certain colors for a short time? How about 72's & 73's? (obviously plastic valance equipped birds were body color)

No, no, NO! This is a '72, not a '71. Originally there would have been no park lamp fillers, since it would have been built with a plastic valance. But you guys know that.
And FWIW, I agree with Giles assessment that only '71 Norwood built should be Argent fillers. On this '72, another odd thing,...notice how low the shaker sits in the hoods' opening? Wrong motor mounts? Some other year air cleaner base? |

so what would my Dec. built '72 have since it probably got the metal replacement valance under warranty or sometime in it's early life. It has unpainted fillers now if I remember correctly. My car is being painted the original silver so if it's body colored or argent silver, no one will probably notice unless unpainted is correct.

When the dealerships replaced the plastic valances with the steel parts, they most likely would have used the kit that Pontiac sold for this conversion. I have one of these kits, NOS, & the fillers are a semi-gloss Argent Silver. But I'd bet that most shops painted them the bodies color.

ALL three of us by Transamric. I was posting at 3AM. ![]() Giles & Lloyd,what's YOUR alibi/excuse? Back to the ebay 72,I have a funny feeling that it likely has the 4WD springs (stumpjumpers) in it. More/better pics I'm SURE would reveal some OTHER interesting "features". |
