Looking at things now I do give Kudos to Jim and Professional Products for standing behind units that are out of warranty on the time aspect. Thank you,
Russ Zangrilli

so the question still remains which balancer is the best you can get for a reasonable price yet easy to install without having to make any mods

Jim Davis and I have been corresponding about the issues I had with my Professional Products' performance-street balancer. He has addressed all issues to my satisfaction. I'd say that there's now no reason to be concerned about their products, as long as Jim is there to provide such good customer service.

I have the fun spinning issue on my PP balancer
It spins on the hub, by hand 4 or 5 years old (at least) Motor is pretty fresh....less than 5k miles, I imagine Trying to shoot the timing gave me a headache as the timing mark moved the entire way around

Well I'm just damn glad you decided to look at it when you did and found what you did before it tore the front off motor # 2 which you've got considerable $$$ in.
As Im finding out these past 5 years, nothing that didn't come off a Snap-On/Mac truck or that was the most expensive thing out there is worth anything these days. And even then you still may get bit. It's surely no guarantee but at best better insurance. Half this stuff is cheap junk for a ok price and the other half is way overpriced.... half of that half is overpriced AND junk and then the other half of the 1/4 that is left is premium price goods being sold under a brand name that was damn hard earned and reputable years ago and has been cheapened in some way or form. While not what it once was they still want you to believe it is, cause of that name and such. The thing that gets me is is that how do you figure out the difference????? That's what I thought I heard you say.... spend piles of money to find out and hope like hell you get lucky, smart or both. Thank-you for letting me vent on your post Darby. |

And here's the thing about these lifetime warranties and such.....
Are they saying they want you to be comfortable in that you spent your money??? What they are really saying is that they know their junk is cheap and IF it EVER flies to hell in a bucket, they'll gladly give you a new one and graciously take back the 43 pieces it grenaded into and dispose of them properly just after you pay the shipping and such. I got a question about that.... The way I look at that is same as my grandad did, "How many times you plannin on pullin that s.o.b on and off and replacing it in your lifetime for FREE???" He'd always follow that question, while you were silent in thought, with... "You're workin awful cheap there today boy." |

hah
I contacted them, told them about Davis' old offer and whatnot Mine falls within the afflicted balancers, the bad ones The new offer is a new balancer for $60. The best they can do...and at least a 30 day wait (probably more - no shipment of them is expected any time soon) (that's only like $20 off summit price) Not good enough, in my opinion. Obviously their balancer is at fault, regardless of warranty I won't be buying PP again. If they won't back a product when it's their fault... Just heads up for everyone

Yeah I learned that one with a chain store alternator I put on my Dodge. I'm going through maybe one every 9 1/2 months or so.
