KU's:
Not sure what book you're mentioning, but KU's were indeed factory installed on Pontiac A-body 14x6 rally II applications starting mid '71 model production, & were used up through end of '71 production on Pontiac A-bodys.

Been a while since I've examined any KU's that were dated for '72 production, but my old handwritten wheel code list note examining several original '72 Ventura's with KU's. On the other hand, KT's were used on '72 Pontiac A-body's with factory installed 14x6 rally II's.

Thanks, I thought the KU's on my 71 were original. But the the 71 factory service manual only lists JT for Rally II 14 x 6". I bought it in 78 and it was stock.

Scott,
Will trade the JT's for what? The rims you listed? I have 3 JA with a 9 25 date IIRC. Sorry, I don't have any XE steelies.

Chris

Chris - I'd like to trade them for JAs dated April-ish. If I can't find someone to trade with, I'll sell them outright. Please PM me if you'd like to discuss further.

Thanks,

Scott

Mike - I'm looking for PMD poverty caps; please PM me with condition and price. I would greatly appreciate it if you could check on the XE steelies.

Thanks,

Scott

If this is whats stamped near the valve stem, they are 14 x 7 (1969 Grand Prix, maybe Firebird)

I just picked up some JT wheels and the codes are unfamiliar to me. The year/plant code reads oT1 a large capital T with a small zero to the left and a small one to the right. I've never seen that style stamping before.

Valve stem codes are 9 () 4 JT.

I think I have some wheels dated 09/04/70. Does this seem right?

Also what would the standard wheel code be for a 02A built 71 GTO? PHS shows no wheel option so I guess they were steelies with poverty caps.

Thanks, John

JT code Rally II's were stamped from 11/25/69 through early Sept of '70. The 9/4/70 JT's you have are some of the last to be mfg & very possibly could have been installed on a late Nov or early Dec of '70 built Pontiac A-body. The protracted Fall of '70 UAW strike began in mid Sept & went on till mid Nov of '70. When supplier plants started making 14x6 rally II wheels after the strike, they manufactured KU's, not JT's.. Crazy thing is the buildsheets coming out of quite a few of the A-body plants still showed JT, though KU rally II's were the actual wheels installed. Just another example of how one can't fully trust buildsheets when doing a cutting edge Concours resto... Have to go with SOLID RESEARCH as to how the car was actually built. As an example, on '71 buildsheets out of Pontiac plant one will still see JT in the wheel code box even on April of '71 built Pontiac A-bodys. The proper code was never inputted. On '71 Fremont plant buildsheets, the correct KU code will appear much much earlier.

John, As far as the standard 14x6 steel wheel, have to look in my wheel stacks & get back to this post. Will try & getout tomorrow & ck some originals,

Does anyone have 1 or 2 15x7 KR wheels for sale dated 12 28 or around this date?
