Over the past 5 years, I've sent 14 clocks from Australia to David Lindquist in California to be repaired or have a quartz movement fitted. He does brilliant work. No-one has ever told me their clock has stopped.

I bought a quartz kit from these guys and did it myself:

I think it was around $50, took about an hour to do it, was very straightforward.

The only thing is you have to make sure that your clock was originally a "Borg" clock, and I would make sure the wife/kids/dog are not around when you try it.

They also have a full service so that you can send your clock to them for them to do the work.

ditto what Keith said...I did this on my 66 Bonne....easy job....I think the price is up to around $60 now, but worth it.
