Yes they did. Production was 367 cars, I'm a proud owner of one!

Pretty rare bird. I had one I picked up as a running parts car, but it was a 301/4-speed. Shame it wasn't a 400, I would have kept it and restored it.

My wife had a '79 Formula 4-speed.....unfortunately it had a 301, and she sold it.

None. 403 cars.

I think there were 346 400/4speed 79 Formulas, I'd like to find one without a rear spoiler like the one that was in HPP a few years back.

Have another 301 4 speed 79 Formula, best thing was it had WS6 and the 4 barrel. If it had been a 400 it wouldnt have been utilized like it has. It gets bigger and better engines when I can afford upgrades. Got it down to 3100lbs curb weight now, so its missing a few parts. Most of which are stored for one of the other birds at a later time.

Sure its rare but who really wants a 301?

Actually there were 367 W72 400-cid 4-speeds 1979 Formulas produced all with BW Super T-10's and WS6. Of those 215 were produced at Van Nuys, CA and 152 produced at Norwood, OH.

All 1979 W72 400-cid Formulas were produced with 4-speed transmissions and WS6 Special Performance Pkg. No WS7's

301 4-speeds are a different

Well I'm no longer a proud owner of one. Mine was submerged in flood water from hurricane Ike last fall. Sad to see it die that way, sure was a nice one.
