Pretty cool link,
It seem like as norm most are auto cars and quit a few without sd motors but I guess they didnt have the option to obtain parts to easy until recently with the help of the internet.

Barrett Jackson SOLD 1974 Red/White automatic SD-455 for 67,000.00 dollars.
I believe thats the car we've seen advertised around 85-90k on ebay but lost out due to the economy and economics.
Someone got a good buy from the looks of the car and hopefully well find out here soon on the forum and/or 09 car show ????? anyone here know who bought it ???????

As I replied in the 74 section, Please remember the hammer price was 67 grand plus the 8% buyers fee. BJ also gets the 6 or 7 percent sales tax on the spot. My math works out to be over $77,000 - Plus the shipping. That was what the buyer was willing to pay in this market.

looked like a father and son that were the winning bidders, very nice car, on the shiney scale from 1-10 it was an 11. It has to be that same car that was for sale for the last 6 months or so from the low $100's to mid $80's at the end of its time on eBay. I bet the seller is feeling some pain since there would have been close to $6k in sellers commission/entry fees so he maybe netted $61k not counting the cost to transport, travel, etc.

That red and white auto was my old car. I sold it 8 or 9 years ago in pieses. The car was all complete when I bought it but the original owner let it go to hell laying in his driveway. He even cut a sun roof in the roof. But it had a boat load of paperwork. That was my first of three superduties that I have had. I now have a 71 big block corvette and now looking to sell or trade that for another super duty driver.

doing a quick search back through the thread and site trying to verify alternator usage ....
Am I correct in thinking that a non-AC, non-defrost/defog SD would use the 37 amp alternator? Everything seems to point that way, looking to get a correct one for my car, a 55 amp is on e-bay right now for a decent price, but i don't think it is the correct one for me.

You are correct going with the 37 amp if the options noted above are fact.

As Brewster posted, a 37 amp alternator is correct in that application.

You should be looking for an 1100927.

thanks for the info, one of the application charts has /455 at the end of the listing for 55 or 80 amp alternator, i didn't know if that meant that all 455 went with that rating alt.
here's a like to the 55 amp one if anyone's interested, ends later tonight. date code was a little late for my car anyway.

Yes, mine was the 15th of January and I hit the even number of 46 years of age. Look forward in seeing that car and hope your going to bring it to Dayton this year ??????

x-bird2, just in case it might help you with a date range in your hunt - my 06B Norwood car has original alternator dated May 24, 1973 (3E24).

I finally got around to painting my engine. It is not a Super Duty, but my car is a '73 (L75) so I used the correct "Super Duty" paint color. I got the paint formula from this site:
Pontiac Engine Paint Formulas

I then used a couple of samples sent to me by other forum members to verify the color. I think it turned out great. The paint formula matched the samples almost exactly.

Either way, it matches the samples I was sent that are based on a clean valve cover from a low mile factory painted super duty engine.

Looks good but I would not have painted the fuel pump or water pump pulley. They should be natural as the pump was installed after the engine was painted. Paint on the pulley can make it difficult to get the pulley and viscous coupler on.

I assume based on the color that your car is a later build, after April 73?

I noticed that too Bob! what about those engine motor mounts, they where added on after painting too!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks kiiller and please post a picture of it assembled and in the motor bay

Thanks for the compliments. I think the color is right on. My car had a May '73 ship date. I will clean the paint off the water pump mounting surface to ease installation/removal of parts. The fuel pump was a relatively new slightly tarnished NAPA model that looks a lot better in Super Duty Blue.... Those are Mity Mount engine mounts, they had black sprayed all over them. The whole car is getting redone, but probably not exactly like the factory turned them out. The typical non-pontiac enthusiast will think everything is stock, but you purists will know what is missing/wrong.
