Default 70 Judge Convertible

Does anyone know anything about this car? Looks very interesting including the price

http://roswell-georgia.olx.com/1970-...l-iid-17432481

I am posting the text from the listing below for future reference in case the link goes dead.

1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Convertible

WITH ONE OF TWO EVER BUILT, PALLADIUM SILVER, RED INTERIOR AND BLACK CONVERTIBLE TOP- THIS GTO IS TRULY SOMETHING TO SEE.

HERE WE HAVE ONE OF THE FLAGSHIP GTOs BUILT FOR 1970. A TRUE AND CORRECT JUDGE CONVERTIBLE- 28 OPTIONS WITH AMERICAN AND CANADIAN PHS DOCUMENTS.

THIS INCREDIBLE PIECE OF AMERICANA HAS BEEN IN RESTORATION (OVER 2000 HOURS) FOR THREE YEARS. TOTALLY RESTORED TO A CONCOURS LEVEL SHOW PIECE. MAYBE THE MOST CORRECT NUMBERED AND DATE CODED JUDGE LEFT IN EXISTENCE WITH WORLD CLASS DOCUMENTATION AND UNBELIEVABLE LINEAGE.
I WAS AT HOME IN OSHAWA, JUST EAST OF TORONTO, AND SAW A GTO CONVERTIBLE DRIVING UP THE STREET AND THOUGHT TO MYSELF THAT HAS GOT TO BE A JUDGE- I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT OFF I WENT TO CHECK IT OUT, LOW AND BEHOLD IT WAS THE "HOLY GRAIL". I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (MAR 1986) FOR A FRIEND AND STARTED THE RESTORATION, SUBSEQUENTLY MY JOB SENT ME OFF TO D.C. IN 1989.
OFTEN THINKING TO MYSELF ABOUT THE GOAT IN STORAGE I FINALLY PERSUADED THE OWNER OUT OF THE CAR, THAT WAS JUST IN HIS WAY. IN MARCH OF 2002 I STARTED WITH A COMPLETE FRAME-OFF ROTISARIE RESTORATION WITH ABSOLUTELY NO EXPENSE EVER SPARED.

THE ENTIRE ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY REBUILT TO STOCK SPECIFICATIONS, EVEN THE CONNECTING AND MAIN BEARING HAVE NOT BEEN MACHINED. THE BLOCK STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL DISPLACEMENT AND THE ORIGINAL SIZE NEW PISTONS. IT WOULD OF HAD BEEN EASY TO REPLACE ITEMS LIKE THE WATERPUMP AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WITH AFTERMARKET ITEMS, INSTEAD NO EXPENSE WAS SPARED AND THESE ORIGINAL PIECES WERE PAINSTAKINGLY REBUILT TO ORIGINAL CONDITION. INCREDIBLY ENOUGH, THIS CAR STILL HAS ALL FIVE VERY RARE LATE 1970 "JT" CODED ORIGINAL RALLY WHEELS INTACT. NOTHING BUT THE VERY BEST WAS PUT INTO THIS AUTOMOBILE.

ALL THROUGH THE PROJECT I HAD KEPT IN TOUCH WITH GUS BROWN (THE OWNER OF GUS BROWN PONTIAC/BUICK IN WHITBY, ONTARIO, WHERE THE GTO WAS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT) AND CARL SCHAENAU THE GENTLEMAN I PURCHASED THE CAR OFF IN 1986 WHO IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER.

AT THE COMPLETION OF THE RESTORATION WE MET AT GUS BROWNS WITH CARL AND HIS WIFE MARG FOR A UNVEILING OF THE CAR HE BOUGHT 37 YEARS PRIOR.
WITH THE GTO CLUB OF ONTARIO IN THE BACKGROUND AND THE CAR IN THE SHOWROOM WE UNVEILED THE JUDGE TO CARL. HE HAD FINALLY MET UP WITH HIS JUDGE THE WAY HE HAD SEEN IT IN "THE SUMMER OF 70".
AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURES, CARL SIGNED WITH GUS AS WITNESS AND NOTARIZED BY HIS LAWYER, A DOCUMENT STATING THE ONLY 4 DATED AND NUMBERED ITEMS THAT WERE CHANGED FROM NEW WAS THE STARTER, RADIATOR, ALTERNATOR AND THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR.

THIS IS A VERY VERY RARE JUDGE WITH AMAZING DOCUMENTATION (SEE ATTACHED).
IN JUNE OF 1970 MY CAR WAS BUILT AND SHIPPED OUT OF PONTIAC, MICHIGAN AND DELIVERED TO TORONTO. IRONICALLY , SHIPPED WITH AN ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL TWIN (SEE ATTACHED MANIFEST) TO MONTREAL. AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE SEARCH WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES, THE TWIN WAS UNFORTUNATELY NOT LOCATED.
ACCORDING TO PETE McCARTHY AND JOHN ANGELES BOOK "PONTIAC MUSCLE CAR PERFORMANCE" ONLY 162 JUDGE CONVERTIBLES WERE MADE IN 1970. ONLY 47 YZ CODE (RAM AIR III) AUTOMATICS WERE EVER PRODUCED. ALTHOUGH THE 4sp. CARS ARE MORE DESIRABLE THE AUTOMATICS ARE MUCH MORE RARE.
THE GTO IS NOW FINISHED AND BACK IN THE OL USA. I HAVE HUNDREDS OF FINISHED RESTORATION PHOTOS. EVERYTHING IS OPERABLE ON THIS CAR RIGHT DOWN TO THE FUNKY AM RADIO.

THIS GTO HAS 0 MILES AND WILL BE AN AMAZING CENTER PIECE FOR ANY FINE AUTOMOBILE COLLECTION.
YOU COULD BE THE FIRST TO SHOW THIS JUDGE CONVERTIBLE AT THE NEXT GTO NATIONALS IN SARATOGA SPRING IN JULY OF 2008.
QUALIFIED POTENTIAL BUYERS CAN VIEW THIS JUDGE IN ATLANTA BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE MADE FROM HARTSFIELD AIRPORT IF DESIRED.

Vehicle located in Roswell, GA.

Wasnt there a published article (something) on the car not long ago?

They took it back to selling dealer and had original owners on hand, with pictures.

Yah.....well.....I see your point BUT its a far cry from $349,000 for a single car! Thats a whole other tax class.

Doug,

I could beg....borrow $49,000 and you could do the $300,000 and we could buy it together and store it at my place You are the one with DR. in front of his name! Besides look at all the cars you have and I only have 3 Your only 90 miles away...you could drive over and see it every week!!!

Amazing car. Would be tough to shell out $300K, then get a fender-bender taking it out on a Sunday afternoon!

2,000 resto hours. Wow. That is fifty 40-hour work weeks...on one car. Amazing.

I guess this is one car worth it.

Mark

How about a MCIT: muscle car investment trust and own shares in one. Like a REIT.

I actually heard from investment broker there may be some collectibles being considered for something similiar, but dont have full details.
Value's are so hard to pin down.

I did some final detail restoration on it. That ad is old. A friend of mine sold it at auction a year or so ago. A lot of neat documentation. I have never seen dealer paperwork in French before.

Thumbs up Speaking of '70 judge converts...

When I was a kid in the '70s, my next door neighbor had a Palladium Silver Judge convertible, Ram Air IV, 4spd and had the dealer install a tri-power on it. It had a black interior. The owner told me he only lost two races with it, once to another goat and once to a Lamborghini. When we run into my old neighbor nowadays, he does'nt want to talk about the car. He got $1500.00 trade-in on a "77 Trans Am for it. Yikes! I used to bounce footballs and frizbees off it when I was like 12 years old. Wish I knew where it was now. We lived in Warren Michigan back then and the owners name was Jim.
