Default The 9th 1969 Trans Am Convertible?

I saw a 1969 Trans Am Convertible "recreation" go through Barrett-Jackson last night, and the announcers said it was "1 of 9 produced, if it was real". I found photos posted from someone who was at the auction (attached).

So while this was a clone, was the information correct that a 9th T/A ragtop was found?

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. They seem to really have a lot of knowledge IMO. Collectively, you wont find a better bunch. They cant be accurate on everything.

I realized I posted this in the Judge forum instead of the 67-69 forum. Little help from the moderators to move this topic please? Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

And I really like Steve Magnante as an analyst. He seems to have the most knowledge of any of the current (or past) commentators at Barrett-Jackson. He did some good work on the old Hot Rod TV show too. He seems to have a grasp on all makes, not just Chevys, Fords, and Mopars, and he can just "wing it", unlike the others that need a script or a teleprompter for help.

White deluxe interior - must have been pretty.

There were only 8 built, the missing car is supposed to have a blue top.

there used to be a guy for a fee would tell you where the lost one was.we always figured it was in a salvage yard crushed somewhere.

i remember when HotRod or Car Craft mag did an article on Trans Ams in the late 70's early 80's where they talked about all the different years.they talked about a few 69 converts being built.one guy sent in pictures of his big block rat 69 driver wondering what it could be.turns out it was one of the 8,guy should have bought some lottery tickets after that.

From the research that I have done and many people
I have talked with about the nine 1969 trans am convertibles.
The ninth 1969 trans am was the green trans am on
"I dream of Jeannie" But it was never to be sold to the public..
And they dont know what happened to it.
It was the first car produced for promotional purposes
and the other eight 1969 trans am were sold to the public
