i know for a fact that kansas and oklahoma have a large amount of sd cars

What were the HP and Torque figures for an SD car in 73 and 74 anyway - just curious...not trying to start anything...wouldn't think of comparing it to the mighty HO, er, I mean...the earlier model year cars...really, just curious - that's all.

Ratings for 73 310 HP & 390 (?) TQ
74 290 HP & 390 (?) TQ

the HP rating I found to odd as the engines I believe to be unchanged from year to year. I think the earlier 73 ratings came when they had a more aggressive cam installed prior to the EPA regs being issued when they switched to the 'production' SD cam.

Yeah, I thought they were both the same too. Like I said earlier in this thread, I owned a 74 D-Port Formula 455 with auto and that car used to scare the crap outta me on a regular basis. Of course, when I owned it in 75/76, I was only 20/21 years old and probably drove it in such a way to regularly scare myself - I was stupid...but man was that car ever fast. I can't imagine me in an SD car back then - or, for that matter in a 71 455 HO GTO like I tried to convince my dad to let me have. Now that I'm older and wiser - I scare myself in my G8 on a regular basis! You gotta love a big honkin' Pontiac V8!!

Well need I say more! but personally, I'd rather have a 73 auto then a 74 stick, but thats just my opinion

FWIW - I got $6K for my '74 auto (Y8) block last year, and it needed a sleeve in one hole.
I realize it's difficult to compare the value of an OEM block to an SR block, but . . .

Yes, I can see an oem block being more desirable for those restoration.

I got mine to through a motor together for a fun driver someday and put it in a car that wasnt produced by the factor with the sd option. The only problem is that day is still way out in the distance.........someday soon I hope???????????????

Are those back tires on your formy larger/wider or is it just the angle of that photo? Regardless, it's a great stance and a nice view of the car - sort of like the view of a well proportioned person of the female persuasion who is walking away from you...that certain part of her anatomy that has a distinct piston pumping sort of movement that has ruined many a good man....ah, but I digress.

You help is appreciated! Thanks in advance. Under 30k would be ok, but under 10k would be best and under 5k well...
