Its your call, but since you asked, I prefer the redlines or blackwalls with the Ralley I's. I just don't think white letters would look period correct with the Rally I's.

They look good to me. As for period correct, they are not but I also like the look of a '66 GTO as it may have looked in 1973. Still a good look to me...Long as they are solid white letters and not "Ghost" letters.

I tend to agree. I'm not a fan of WL's until 69 model cars or so, until they became available to buy to the public.

Default IMO BW...

I too was leaning on WL out but seen the pic in the Hi-Po cat and knew BW was the way for me. I was even toying with painting my rims just like the catalog pic.

Thanks Dan. That car just screams "don't mess with me".

In the end it all boils down to personal preference. I really like the letters (not the ghost letters). Id never own a car from this generation without them.

Actually, Id like to find a set of Rally I's, get some BFG's and switch between my Cragars. But thats how I feel this week. Next week Ill be back to plain steel wheels with poverty caps.

I think they look fine but it really is a matter of personal taste. I had white letters on my 67 back in the early 70's. Current 67 will get red lines.

In the early 70's I painted my Rally 1's flat black (gold car, black roof) to match the black in the center caps. I ran white letter tires on them and it gave the car a different look from the others in the area.

DBones, that '66 of yours is a knock-out! What is your tire/wheel size combo?

You guys are really flattering me. Thank You All!!

Rear = 255 x 70 on a 15 x 8 Rim
Front = 225 x 70 on a 15 x 7 Rim

I also have the Lemans station wagon heavy duty springs in the rear which lifts the back end about 1 1/2"

Personal preference only, but I like the white lettered tires with Cragars or any other rim. The tires on mine are blackwalls for now, and it doesn't look as good to me. Done this way only because the fronts are Firestones and the rears BFGs. The Firestones will be coming off asap.

I have had white walls, Redlines, and RWL tires mounted on steel wheels with poverty caps, steel wheels with the optional "Custom Wheelcovers", Pontiac wire wheels, Rallye 1s and Rallye IIs on various GTOs. I liked them all for various different reasons. Biggest deciding factors I think are the car paint colors. Different tires look better with some colors than others. Personal preference.

Currently have RWL BFGs on my Reef Turquoise 66 Convertible and am happy with the look. I had bias ply 775-14 Redlines when I first changed to the Rallye 1s with this car. Went to RWL radials after a blowout on the freeway with the bias plys. Went with RWL Goodyears at the time as there were no redline radials available back then. Don't have any pictures scanned with the redlines mounted, only with the BFGs.

Have toyed with putting redline radials on now that they are available but really like the look of the BFGs also. Tough decision on any car. Jim
