I didn't get anything much done this week. To be honest, it hasn't been a very good week. The weather has not been good, so I couldn't get any painting done and my son called from Flagstaff. His girlfriend of several years broke up with him and it really tore him up.
I have spent a lot of time on the phone with him and I wish I could be there but, I can't. I know he'll pull through but it is hard. And, it's hard on me to see my son in pain. I took my passenger side fender liner by a welding shop so they could patch a hole in it. Someone punched one in it to access the heater core bolt. I am thinking about having them powder coated but I need to fit them to the fenders first. I had to work some damage out of the fronts of them. I am not sure about coating them. If they flex will the coating crack? I may just paint them. The totals remain the same as last week with the exception of the dash bezel I bought. I will update costs next week.

Phil, were you ever able to get in touch with Dennis? I was down there about a week and a half ago and he's got even more parts cars down there now. Quite a few '66/'67 A-bodies that probably have decent inner fenders.
http://www.cor-vette.com/pontiacs.htm Know what you mean about your son...Mine went through that a few years ago, He was just a teenager but it really tore him up for a while. Best cure for woman blues is a new one...unfortunately.

Well, this has been an up and down week. Beautiful weather and the week off so I got sick and stayed in bed from Tuesday afternoon until Friday morning.
.I got my bezel last week and while it is not perfect, it is a lot better than what I had. Then, today I get an e-mail from a fellow PYer saying the parts I shipped him were damaged during shipping. It wouldn't have been so bad if it were just some parts, but, it was the four pieces of beltline trim that I spent many hours stripping and buffing. So, now I have to try and file a claim with UPS.ALso, I got a phone call from the shop today. They had my fenderwell patched . So, I went to get it and they had patched it where the side that won't show is finished! I just took it and will grind it down myself then use the truck bed coating to cover it.I paid $78.00 for the bezel and $35.00 for the patch job. Anyway, here are the new totals. Labor at 289 hrs............$5,780.00 Parts...........................$7,935.09 Outside Labor................$3,300.00 Gifts...............................$716.52 Total..........................$17,766.61

I didn't get anything done last week. And, after reading the thread on the fan blade restoration, I know what I will be doing this week. Mine was painted when I got the car so I thought that was the way it should be.
Anyway, my work has come to a complete stop so there is no money to spend on the car. Hopefully some jobs will come along in the near future, but, until they do... well, you all know what I mean. I still have work I can do to the car that won't cost anything so even though I have put the project on the back burner at least I haven't turned the stove off yet.

Well, I got the fan blade restored and started stripping the front inner fenders last week. While I was removing the fan blade I noticed power steering fluid on the bottom of the pump. Further investigation revealed that the pump was leaking around the resevoir so I went to O'Reilly Auto and got another one. I worked 12 1/2 hours on the fan, inner fenders and I repainted the new P/S pump. I also re-installed the fan and pump.
Here are some pics of the fan. And, before anyone points it out, I know it is a 69-70 fan. Pt #9796134. Does anyone know what the #SD914007872 under the pt # means? Here are the new figures Labor at 301 1/2 hrs...........$6,030.00 Parts...............................$7,986.44 Outside Labor....................$3,300.00 Gifts..................................$ 716.52 Total..............................$18,032.96

Well, I took the inner fenders to my buddy in Columbus. He will fix a couple of rusty spots then undercoat the wheel side and paint the engine side. When I get them back I am going to test fit the front end.
I spent about 1/2 hour cleaning the under dash ductwork. I will update figures next week.

I worked 8 1/2 hrs on the car this week. That's counting the 1/2 hr I put in last week. Put the A/C evaporator, fan box and under dash box back in. I also re-did the duct work. Cleaned it, then painted it with SEM Color Coat in satin black. I like it better. I had to take the engine harness back out and return it to M&H for a minor modification. I spent $58.21 on supplies such as strip caulk, paint and tranny fluid.
I spent Friday cleaning and listing some spare parts for sale. Her are this weeks figures. Labor @ 310 hrs...............$6,200.00 Parts..............................$8,044.65 Outside Labor..................$3,300.00 Gifts.................................$716.52 Total............................$18,032.96

Blue, that looks like a Golden Hawk or a Sliver Hawk. The Studebaker club here in DE has a couple of each, and other models that are really nice. It's surprising how many of the old Studes are around these days.
And good to hear you had a great vacation.

But his 4 banger is fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]() Oh and 1 of my uncles had a Stude for many years,I got to see a pic of his standing next to the car. |

I picked up my inner fenders last week and hung the old exhaust from the motor to the mufflers.
I hung the front fenders on and stuck the steering wheel in so I could take a picture for the Insurance company.I rolled the car out of the shop and let it sit in the sun for a few hours. I hope to crank the car in a few weeks. Here are the new totals with 1 hr labor and $125 for the inner fenders. Labor @ 311hrs...........$6,220.00 Parts.........................$8,044.65 Outside Labor..............$3,425.00 Total........................$18,177.96

I have both of mine still on the inner fenders. Do you guys mean to say that this another piece that's not available?
I'll keep my eyes peeled for a suitable replacement. Seems like I have seen something on ebay for a chevy hood bumper that looks like that sorta. Charles |
