Smile Build your Ultimate Street Machine

Pontiac power of course.
Mine would be a 77-78 SE T/A 540 IA II Aluminum Block.
Tiger heads or CV-1's .
Wheel and tire combo like Bigger is Better's 80 T/A .
Suspension upgrades for sure .
Another cool T/A I would like to build is this one but as a Street Machine
made up this pic of SDRogers 70 Race T/A for Google Earth - you'll see one of the roads he races on at the bottom right hand corner .

I'm building it:

1967 Lemans (with 326 badges, of course)
- 455 at 450 - 500 hp
- Built 200 4R
- 17" Torque Thrusts
- 13" Baer's in the front, 12" in the back
- Currie rear end with 3.55's or slightly higher
- All new suspension front and back sitting on Bilsteins
- Clean interior with a bitchin' stereo.

After two years, I've only done the interior, stereo, front suspension, and the 200 4R is in, but not yet set up.

My goal would be to build a car that looks factory stock, but can handle like nobodys business, and be scary fast in a straight line.

Custom built, lighytweight tube frame with all high-tech steering, suspension (IRS), and brakes. Perfectly duplicated 69 GTO body made from aluminum and kevlar. The biggest cube possible IA-II aluminum block with fire-breathing heads, and a bulletproof 6 speed. Liberty blue with hideaways and an all stock parchment interior. No console, please.

'76 Catalina 2-door hardtop with enough heat under the hood to get air under the front wheels at launch, custom 16X9 Rally II wheels with 255/60/16 tires, sway bars as thick as your arm and a totally stock look in and out. Verdoro green paint with a light green interior...what can I say, I like green.

My Ultimate Street machine would not be a Pontiac bodied vehicle. It would be a Ford Cobra chassis with a Traditional Pontiac 503 cid (4.31x4.31) Aluminum IA-2 Block, CV-1 Heads, with Twin 80mm Turbos and a Big Stuff 3 EFI System. Most would think it was a Ford Engine.

Light weight, plenty of power, Light front end vs the 427 FE Engine, etc. I have seen several early 60s Corvettes that were built with the 421 SD engines and Dual Quads when that was the engine to have.

Nice combo Tom - I always liked those Cobra's and with a big inch IA II
would be rad .
Also any of those Vette's still kicking around with 421SD power .

a fitting farewell is the 64 gto since it was the first one. New generation (not kaufmans) small chamber semi-hemi heads with a dish piston IA tall deck, NA with a shot of spray. The 64 must have a standard tranny with a couple of ods. There may just be one of these in the works.....

The early Cobras were a bit soft off the line but would come on reasonable strong on the top end. A Cobra, set up as described, would be a "Lambo Killer". The old turbo set-ups might suffer from traction issues but the new Traction Control EFI systems would be able to put the power down, (look at the Drag Radial boys and what they are doing). The Brits and Europeans are big on the "Time to Overtake" vs the quarter mile deal.

I remember when the Flupler lined up his 65 GTO against Marty Pablykin's twin turbo GTO at Norwalk one year. "Time to Overtake" was like 75 feet, LOL!
