Look at my previous post! Registered is Gillette, legal is Redmond Auto Rebuild, Pittman owned Redmond Auto Rebuild. When you buy a new car and the bank finances the car John Doe is registered, Bank Of America is legal. Registered is liable for the vehicle, legal is on the title to protect their interest of the vehicle. Money was owed on the wagon so Redmond Auto Body was legal to protect his interest in the vehicle until it was paid off just like a bank. Balance on the car would be a really high number since inhouse finance carries a high interest rate times 32 years of unpaid balance and interest and late fees etc. I would guess over 10k easily, that why Repo Pete offered a reasonable amount of 2,500 for the title. Current owner had no business buying a car without checking the registered and legal owner it's just a simple phone call. Look at post number 13 there is a picture of current info pulled from Olympia WA.

2. If Repo Pete has legal claim to the car, he has no need to offer $2500 for the car, since he has assumed the assets of Redmond Auto. Why, then, did he make such an offer? And to whom did he make the offer?

Scott, The answer to #7: Just trying to help out a friend.
I passed along a few phone numbers to people who are involved and I will let them work it out. I do not actually have the title. It is supposedly in previous owner Jim's hand and I have no access to it. Jeff

No I don't know the balance I am not Pete. The number 2500 I suggested to Pete. When I was interested way back when. Current owner said floor boards were very rusty and was not sure the car was worth putting back together. Here's my math, car is in Colorado 1000. to transport back to Seattle, parting it out 4000 worth of parts, 428 core, complete 4 speed set up, posi rear end, buckets, etc. anything else would be hard to know unless you looked at the stuff in person. 4000 - 1000 transport- 500- in stuff that could be good or bad. I told him, its not what it's owed, but what is the least the car has to we worth in parts. No way to know the block, tranny, posi, are good hence 2500. Plus try to give the guy a break on who bought the car a little, without the title. I know he is not going to get one penny out of Gillette, one he did not pay for the car, two sold it without a title and lied about this, three said he was in contact with Pittman which is lie. I talked to Olympia today and they told me there is no way the state will take the lein of the car even if it is that old because a old car could be worth 100,000 or more. Plus I am tired of answering questions about this, I don't want the car and it is eating up too much of time! I am out. My ram air iv Judge is going in for paint in 3 weeks, my 73 sd has the engine being rebuilt, 65 421 ho GP is on the hoist front end being rebuilt, I just made a deal for a set of ported 12 heads with Bill Oxley for 70 orbit orange Judge, 64 4 speed wagon is going in next week for a driver paint job and I just got my 71 GTO out of storage for eighteen years and got it road worthy for my wife to drive. I must be crazy 7 days a week fourteen hours a day and i still have to run two car dealerships! Never a dull moment.

1. You're the one who pooped in the pool in the first place. Now, you're tired of answering questions and want to run away from your mess? Please. 2. Are you trying to impress us? Sure sounds like it. May I ask why? 3. For the record: anybody who would even think about parting out a rarity like that is an idiot hack who deserves to own a junkyard and be selling parts off Nissans. He has no business even coming within 100 miles of a Pontiac with that sort of build history. Rusty floors or not. 4. Are you sure you're done here, Richard, or would you like to pee in the pool too while you're here?

Dearest Scot I will not trade insults you. So go ahead say what you want. If you care to read my posts the price is what the car is worth if it is junk, which I can't tell because the car is in Colorado and I live in Seattle. I never said I would junk it. I have left my phone number with all parties I can contact, Pittman, Repo Pete and the friend of the wagon who's on this post. For what ever reason you can't follow what I say and I have to keep saying the same thing over and over again. I am too busy and a lousy typist. Impress, no I am my making fun of myself because I take on too many projects at once just like this wagon. Phone calls, research with Olympia, etc, I burned a good 6 hours. Say what you want but I bet if you go work on you car you will be much happier! I just got 65 Gp back on the road I going for a drive now that's an attitude adjuster. Insults no, this hobby is for fun. I promise this is the last post any questions here's my phone number 206-261-5324 more insults I will simply hang up! p.s. Dearest Scot there is nothing more I can do, I don't want the car and if any of the parties want my help they can call me. It is so much quicker for a ret@rd like me to explain on the phone LOL!

The more you read this thread, the less sense it makes.
Trying to sum it up; Jim #1 bought a junk car. Jim #1 gave the car to Jim #2 (AKA partner Jim) for junk to part out. Now, it appears Jim #2 sold the car on cedit to James/Jim #3. Jim #3 has since sold the car to what appears to be a Jim #4?? And all of this has happened over a (77 till now) 32 year period of time. OK, Jim #1 retired and GAVE the title to Pete (at least it's not another Jim). (Not going into what happens to titles when REAL businesses close. It's a tax write off thing and really messes titles up) Current vehicle inquiry shows James G's registration expired in 87. (this would be Jim#3,I think, maybe? Jim#4) Then it shows title renewal info. Last transaction-Restored Vehicle (doesn't look like it in pics) Last trans date-1/20/2006 Now we've got an unnamed sellar who purchased the car from Jim #?. And now a new claims to be legal owner by way of gift from Jim#1(that's 2nd 'give' by the way), Pete, whose name doesn't appear on title. So, Pete has a lein on an old title that already has a lein #1 on it. That would make him lein holder #2 that isn't on the title. UNLESS, he's a representative of Jim#1, that's out of business, trying to collect a 32 year old debt on a car he gave away for junk twice. This can't be right though, it would mean Jim#1 is still in business if he's doing title transactions in the business name that appears on title, which current inquiry shows. Can't wait to here how this story ends. Going to dig the waders out now! Keep it up guys. This is too good. I bet one of the used car business magazines would pay big for this.

Scott, My friend does not have time to access the internet and waste time with the negative crap online. I volunteered to help him move few rare cool pontiacs.
My friend is not Jim. He bought the car in good faith from Jim Gillette and has no desire to "Poop in the pool". They are working hard to get the title straightened out possibly begin to restore the wagon. If he can move some other cars then he can keep the wagon. Jeff

All one has to do is go to Hawaii and get an authentic looking Title for the wagon.
Then most everyone would except it as legal. |

There are only 2 Jims.... Jim #1 sold it to Jim #2 in 1977. Jim #2 recently sold it to the current owner. Jim #2 needs to somehow satisfy the lien for the current owner.

If the repo guy's smart he'll let him sell it and then get him for selling stolen property.

It's not considered stolen property... its a loan default. As a used car dealer that does in house financing, I wish I could call a vehicle in stolen everytime someone defaulted on a loan. I do have the right to repo the vehicle if the buyer is 1 second late on thier if I so wish to do so. I usually give them 10 days to make a payment or arrangments... if they don't... I pop the car.... give these people an inch and they'll take a mile....

Greg, no offense but in that situation the repo guy will probably bring the local sherriff with him. The welcome you've mentioned will be worth at least a night in jail over that one, the car will be impounded until the legal owner is determined. I've seen that one happen. Mike
