Caltracs are in and new tires on, looks great! Have pics but in the shop with no cord so i will post them tomorrow or later tonight. The tires are a tight fit with the leaf and front quarter seam but at my ride height it should be fine. I did have to use the bottom hole in the caltracs because the top one had the force bar about 3/8'' away from the leaf. I think i read somewhere it should be 1''.

Now to do my top shock mount bar.

First pass I would come out easy. With the bars in the lower hole it is going to hit them hard.

Did you use the al. spring eye bushings?

What is this 1" dimension you speak of?

Didn't realise you had shaved door handles....cool.

Yup on the alum. spring eye bushings.

This is the measurement i mean, with the bar in the top hole i have only about 3/8'' clearance.

I think i will phone calvert in the morning and double check about the leaf/bar clearance.

Shocks are relocated! Welds are not the prettiest but they will work.

Going to be a mad scramble in the morning to get loaded up and on the road by noon.

That is how I wanted to do my shocks, vertical and plumb.

Ran out of time. I was going to use the QA1 Ladder bar shock mounts that are adjustable in height.

Ya, when i tub and narrow i may need to move them but it seems to work out good so far. I guess the track will tell tonight. I am all loaded up and ready to go, should be heading out in 1.5hrs.

Installed them with 2'' compression and 4'' extension. My bumpstops hit the axle at just under 2''s. Also checked the front range and have about 4'' of lift, may need to trim that snubber for alittle extra.

Nothing spectacular but its definatly hooking better.

Friday night(unprepped track=real greasy)
12.9
92.6
2.0

I let off at half track because the car was floating all over the place.

Saturday
(adjusted tire pressure to 20psi, adj. front shocks as loose as they would go, reset preload on caltracs, upped dampening on rear shocks to 7)

run 1:
12.46
105
1.76

run 2:
12.57
106
1.84

run 3
12.28
108
1.71

run 4
12.49
106
1.78

run 5
12.39
108
1.75

run 6 (bogged bad off the line)
12.44
108
1.84

It was very hott and bad air as everyone was running a few tenths slow.

It did seem to hook very well, i think i need some motor tuning now.

Every run spun the tire on the rim about 1''

A friend took a good video of my launch, i should have it up in a day or so.

Here it is, hard to tell.

Noticed tonight that i have a loose rocker or maybe a lobe going. Carb needs tuning. Tires rub alittle on the leaf spring clamp (may get some spacers).

It hooks alot better on the street.

Before the races today i put the caltracs in the tophole again.

Track couldn't have been too bad if you turned the tire?

Are these 60 fts more consistent to previous outings?
Are they better or worse?

Yes, track was better on saturday as they sprayed it because of the alcohol funny car show.

60's are alittle better, 1.7x are not bad, last year i was stuck in th low 1.8x.

I was really hoping for some 1.6x's though. With more motor tuneup i may get them.

It really feels like it launches better.

Did it stumble?

What seems peculiar is it was off by 2mph?

are the new tires the same height?

What rpm through the lights?

It stumbled once for sure, tires look to be a tad taller.

It was off by up to 6mph at times, i was running 111-112 last year.

Not sure about rpm through the traps, forgot to check that one.

Had an interesting weekend, raced a 69 camaro/350/aluminum heads, yadda yadda.

I beat him everytime but he insists on racing again. Anyways, went out and raced a few, came back into town and was sitting at a red light when i heard a metal clunk. Everything was still running fine but my volts and PS was gone so i figured i blew the belts. Drove a block and pulled into the gas station to see a huge river of glycol trailing behind me. The bottom pulley came off and water pump stopped, motor got alittle warm (~230) and spewed out the overflow. The pulley bolts must have been loose for some time as the holes and threads in the pulley/balancer are screwed.

Im just thankful it did not let go while i was racing.

You are lucky it didn't come apart.

How did you get it home?

Is your season about over?

Towed it home. Racing is all done at the tracks and about 2 weeks of cruising left possibly. It froze last night so its getting chilly.

Highs of ~55F and lows of 40F.
