I was tire shopping for my Tahoe and this local tire store is selling these. Price ain't all that cheap, $500 for 4 275/70R16s mounted and balanced, but never heard of the brand name before. The tire store is reputable, been around for years so no worries on that part.

Anyone heard of these? Good or bad experiences?

Don't know what country the best quality tires are being made in these days but you could check that 1st. Most tires probably come from Asia, I'm guessing.

Possible that the Eldorado tires are mfd by a major tire co like Yokahama.
I would think if the treadwear rating on the sidewall is over 400, they should be good tires. my

Eldorado has become a pretty big player in the tire market for US cars and trucks here in The Netherlands over the last few years.
The Eldorado Legend GT's with the white letters are pretty cheap, General XP2000 and Cooper Cobras cost more and BFG's cost a lot more over here.

Eldorado's aren't the best tires, but you get what you pay for.
From what I've heard so far they are okay in dry weather, in rain/snow they aren't that great.

Eldorado is owned by Treadways, which is a subsidiary of Sumitomo. From the Eldorado website:

Founded in 1966, Eldorado Tire was established in Michigan by Kelly Calamari, as a member-owned private brand tire company. B. F. Goodrich originally supplied its tires and Eldorado became a pioneer in the private brand industry.

In 1970, Eldorado made some changes and began selling the brand to non-member distributors. Five years later, The Cooper Tire and Rubber Company became the exclusive manufacturer of Eldorado Tires. Since then, Eldorado has sold over 25 million tires nationwide.

Treadways acquired Eldorado Tire in 1995. The corporate offices moved from Troy, Michigan to the Treadways corporate headquarters near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1999. Eldorado now has over 90 distributors that sell to hundreds of dealers all over North America.

I stopped by the local retailer today and they did say they are made in the USA but couldn't tell me much about how they performed. Made a big deal about them being quiet.

That's the thought I'll have while I crawl out of my wrecked Tahoe in mid-January: Too bad for the truck, but boy were those tires quiet!

I think I'll spend the extra 75 bucks and get General Grabbers like I originally planned.

When I read the first post I immediately remembered Eldorado tires! Way back in 1969 I bought my first set of new WL tires and ET slots and the tires were Eldorado's. I haven't heard that about that name on a tire since the 70's. Thanks for the history, Stuart.
