They are HRE 545's that I picked up used. The car is almost done now but I have been unable to get out to my shop for almost two months. Hope to get it on the road this fall. Here is another shot.

Very cool thread! Here's my 69 as it sits today. Added the sword stripes on the hood to match the original 1969 Engineering Car. The scoops under the valence attract a lot of attention at cruise nights.

Nice looking 'bird you've got there, Mike! Is she lowered and rolling on 15's?

Thanks! No, still on the original 14x7's, stock height tires, and stock ride height. It took quite a bit of experimenting, but I finally matched the factory ride height specs in the Assembly Manual and the Pontiac Service Manual for a 69 Bird.

Ground to rocker molding (front) - 8.9"
Ground to rocker molding (rear) - 8.6"

Yes, these cars actually sat a little "nose high" from the factory (the 69 GTO did too), but that part I didn't like, so my back end sits level 8.9".

I was trying to get the same angle as the original 69 prototype car photo.

I just checked mine, the ride height is similar to yours although I'm rolling on 15's. Maybe it's just the the camera angle; it seems as if I've got tons of room in my fender wells yet yours looks nice and tight.

Anyway, that's a sweet looking 'bird you've got!

I like the stance because it's the way the factory did it, and the tires are pretty close to stock size. The only ground clearance issues I have are the 3.5" collectors on the headers. I just watch out for speed bumps! I also have a 4-muffler system under the car, 2 in the stock location, 2 more 4" bullet mufflers upstream.

It may look a little closer to the ground because of the front scoops, and the shadows in that picture. Here's a photo a little farther away....

And another pic of a part throttle launch, ending abruptly.....the BFG Radial T/A's aren't much for traction, but they ride nice.

Default More recent pictures of my 69 bird.

I haven't posted on any forums in a long time , been busy. But i have been working hard on my firebird in the last 4 months. When I started working on it full time in July it was on its side in just a shell (easier to weld floor on its side). Now the photos will explain! I'm very proud of my first paint Job! Next time less orange peal and less sanding of ornange peal!
