Does anyone remember the '63 Swiss-Cheese car for sale in the Hot Rod classifieds in about '78? If I remember correctly, the asking price was $2200.
Better yet, does anyone have one of the issues it was in? I know it was in at least 2.

Thanks, unbelievable, isn't it? What issue was that one in? The one I'm talking about, if I remember correctly, was a dark color-probably red. It was also, again if I remember correctly, on a trailer and priced at $2200.

I just had that 1962 Catalina ad marked as "late 70's Hot Rod Magazine", so I don't have the exact issue. I do recall a Mickey Thompson car popped up in Hemmings back in the late 70's for around the same price, aluminum nose, very low miles (around 2000 I believe), but I can't recall if it was a swiss cheese car or not. May have been PJ Heck owned at the time. I'd have to look for that ad, unless someone already posted it?

Further pics have surfaced of the Stokes Firebird. Fender lettering says 'Firebird by Pontiac'. Car is 426 powered , not Pontiac powered, just for the record.
That explains why I had never heard of it. Steve Hosting- 12h annual Pontiac Heaven March 26-28, 2010 Phoenix make plans to attend

In the background on the other side of the fence, you can see someone's yard and house. There used to be a treehouse in a big old tree in the yard too that I think dates back to the 70's. I remember it seeing races there 10-15 years ago. The treehouse is gone now, and I think the house too, having been torn down within the last few years. You could see right down the track from that treehouse.

This may have been already posted but I bring it up here because I was just studying it (...naturally, I was looking for something else and got distracted
).Period photo of Ace Jr and Jim Wangers reviewing one of the Swiss Cheese cars: ![]() Here, the roof is not painted red. Also - note that no hood scoop has been installed yet. You might also notice another '63 in the background, with the Bobcat Appearance package. K

I can't believe I didn't mention it when I posted earlier but that's my Dad driving Pete Seaton's car.
Notice, too, that Wanger's car has a crease (dent) in the side, in front of the rear wheel. K

BTW, if you look at the new issue of HPP magazine, the Story on Royal Pontiac, the color picture of the dealership that leads the story, you can see the SD Tempest wagon setting in the parking lot, left of the showroom, near the middle of the lot! kinda like a Where's Waldo type of thing LOL!!! but i have an eye for details at times LOL!!
