Fuel Shutoff
Do any of you guys shut off the fuel prior to winter storage on your mechanical fuel pump Pontiacs? I was thinking to shut off the fuel, then run the engine until it quits to evacuate the fuel from the carb. I want to preserve my fresh Q-jet rebuild without the insides getting all gummed up over the winter. I use Sta-bil in all my gas. Any suggestions?

I don't think I would drain the carb.Gaskets tend to shrink or harden.I think the acc.pump should also be kept wet.

I question what is the worse enemy...a dry carb or evaporating fuel that leaves a gummy residue? If a dry carb is going to be a problem down the road, I'll make sure to start it every couple weeks. I hate to start it and not get it fully warmed up with a 30-45 minute drive.
