Nothing "political" or "religious" to see here folks. Just another guy "gone over the edge" from the newly discovered Pre Traumatic Stress Disorder, according to Liberal Jim.

How did I miss this post?
You're absolutely right; only the last sentence, however.

It may not have been "political" but it damn sure was "religious".

I hope he recovers from his gunshot wounds. I hope he suffers in prison. I hope the guards turn a blind eye while he gets brutalized.

I predict a military court marshal in his future, followed by a death sentence (unless the liberals infiltrate the military court and refuse to execute him on the ground of not wanting to make a martyr out of him). Been a long time since someone in the military was executed under military law...I wonder if hanging is still an option?

I wonder how that'll play out.

How come this isn't being called a hate crime yet?

Then that would be racist.

If this isn't criminal negligence, I don't know what is:

Brian, you can't offend anyone that is Muslim and a potential terrorist by actually looking into something like this!

No, how about because it does not currently meet the definition of a hate crime? I guess looking it up and posting from an informed position is more work than some are willing to do. http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/civilrights/overview.htm.

That being said, if a case can be made for the death penalty, this killing would probably be high on my list.

Probably?

I'm going to nominate this for "MOST ABSURD STATEMENT OF THE DAY".

I doubt anything will come along that is more absurd, but you never know.

Regardless of the stupid definition of what a hate crime is (ie, the race or sexual orientation of the person killed), I think it's safe to say that if you kill someone by putting a bullet in their brain, you HATE them! I hate political correctness and all the dopes who subscribe to its doctrines!

13 people are dead and hundreds more lives forever changed because of the religion of political correctness. How many more lives is it going to take for people to wake up? That's a rhetorical question, because we all know the answer. The dopes who subscribe to this garbage will NEVER concede defeat, until and unless they are holding the blood soaked heads of one of their own loved ones!

"Defining a Hate Crime
A hate crime is a traditional offense like murder, arson, or vandalism with an added element of bias. For the purposes of collecting statistics, Congress has defined a hate crime as a "criminal offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender's bias against a race, religion, disability, ethnic origin or sexual orientation." Hate itself is not a crime—and the FBI is mindful of protecting freedom of speech and other civil liberties."

This people were killed in the name of his religion.

Do I win anything for that? Well Brian, it was early and I shouldn't have added the death penalty comment so in that context, I find myself agreeing with you. Either way the bottom line is this was a tragic event/attack or whatever you chose to call it and I did not intend to make it into a debate over the death penalty.

On this Veterans day my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to those killed, injured and immediately affected by the cowardly acts of this guy and anyone who somehow condones such killings. On that point, I believe we can agree.

I don't necessarily disagree with you John. My point was that this is not considered a hate crime not because it would be racist to do so but because it does not meet the definition of hate crime based on the facts known so far. Sometimes some people just say things on the internet without any knowledge of the subject, others read it and well hell, that's good enough for them. I am not making any statement about the concept of a hate crime, just stating why it currently is not being prosecuted as such.

And Chicago mayor Daley wisely offers his thoughts:

“Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don’t blame a group.”

http://biggovernment.com/2009/11/10/...-love-of-guns/

By that logic it would seem that the 9/11 terrorists were lovers of planes.

I could probably scrounge up a Bozo button.

I wasn't taking it in the context of debating over capital punishment, it just found it absurd because people tend to either be for it or against it if it fits the crime, not in the middle. Since it was early, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
