Well, because Favre IS the greatest QB to ever play the game (and I've been saying that since about 1996)...it's news! Favre just had a news conference about an hour ago to sort of confirm that he and Childress had words, that Childress asked him to come out of the game, Brett didn't want to be pulled, so hopefully, all is well again.
It's a news story because of Favre's status. There were always rumors that Favre gets special treatment. Well, not surprising, he deserves special treatment, just like Gretzky, Jordan, and other sports legends. They're the star, they have the talent and the experience. But they can't cross "the line" of trying to second-guess the coach. I know they've done it sometimes, but when things go wrong, it doesn't look good. I mean, if Favre threw 4 TD passes to beat the Panthers, then people would be saying that Childress was an idiot because he wanted to pull Favre at halftime. That's why Brett needs to watch his mouth when he talks to the media. He's an emotional guy, and speaks from his heart. But sometimes he needs to keep quiet about such explosive things as disobeying your coach.
Well, I hope Favre and the Vikings come back strong. I'd love to see Favre make it back to the Super Bowl.
