Default Newb intro, pics

Hey, I'm up in Edmonton, Canada, just learned of this forum today from a fellow who bought the old 305 from my '86 Grand Prix project. (Hi Brian ) Now I just have to get it out of the car and into his hands.

I'm swapping an '06 LQ4 and TH350 into the clean Poncho I found last summer. Still a ways to go, but here's a few pics-

Welcome to PY probably the best Pontiac forum anywhere, I have a project I'm working on myself that involves a fairly clean 86 GP, a stock car chassis, and a 455 Pontiac engine. See the particulars in my signature.....

Thanks everybody! I'm really looking forward to driving my first Pontiac since the '64 Parisienne I had in the 70s. 283 Powerglide, 4 door hardtop, loved that car. I had a few Chevys, one Dodge, NEVER a Ford. When my kids came along I turned to Toyotas for the economy and reliability aspects, and actually hot-rodded my last one, an '83 Celica with a 22RTE turbo motor swap that ran a 13.94 last year.

The plan for the GP is to get back to the American muscle, with the modern engine, beefed up drivetrain, and eventually using what I learned from the Celi to turbocharge this one too.

I'll have the advantage of installing the headers before the engine, and adjusting the mounts to make it all fit. They still might need some persuasion though, they're LS1 F-body headers. Guys on G-body forums have used them before.

What, the old-school Pontiac blue isn't enough? Just tell yourself it's a GTO motor, makes it easier to swallow, lol. I wonder what kind of a ride I'll get when I put a Ford diff in it.....

I look forward to meeting some of the local guys, the guy that's getting my 305 is a nice fellow. I find most car guys are......

My goal from the start with this project was to go with the new smallblock in the cleanest G-body I could find. When I go to the track Friday nights and see boosted LS cars running 9s, well I just wanted in on that action, even a little.

Welcome aboard.

For your swap, you may want to check out b-man's thread about his LS3 swap into his 64 Tempest. Gobs of pics and info, but get your coffee and prepare for a long, long read.
