Well I think I screwed up on my tweeter placement. I couldn't mount them to the kick panels, no room on driver side. I had ribbon tweeters in my door panels, but I bought new panels and didn't want to cut holes in them. So I went and drilled some holes in my dash and mounted them there, I DON'T LIKE IT. Bear in mind the dash pad goes on yet and will overhang so they aren't hanging there in the middle of no where. I have three choices, I can leave them, or bore a 2" hole and mount them flush with a nice trim ring that also came with them, or I can remove them and make a couple aluminum plates, wrinkle finish red to cover my screw up and mount them somewhere else. These are a wide dispersion titanium dome, so they don't have to be pointed right at you. Let me know what you think.......... At this point I am NOT going to consider patching holes and repainting.............

how big is the hole behind them? You might cover it up with a small emblem or other trim and not draw attention to it.

For something like that, I would have made a bracket to hold them either under the dash, by the kick panels or down by the seat mounts.

At this point, it is just two 3/16" holes and one 1/4" hole. I guess I am thinking of cutting the 2" hole tonight and try them flush mounted, if that looks like crap also, then I can put the aluminum plate over the screw up, do the wrinke finish job, like my gauge panel and fasten it with some stainless socket head cap screws.......... I guess I wanted them mounted somewhat high and not under the dash since tweet's are somewhat directional.

Do you have a floor console? Maybe you can mount them on that.

I think I would mount them at the top of the A pillar. You would still see them but they would be more inconspicuous. Just my 2 cents. What are you using for mids/bass? I replaced the dash speaker in my car with a custom autosound unit with dual tweeters and the highs are pretty good. I think the midrange in my car could be better even with 6x9 3 ways in the rear deck. But I dont want any speakers showing. Tell us about the rest of the system. Jim

Tweeters are directional and should be mounted as high as possible. Should also be mounted in a way to point towards the middle of car. If you could get them flush or partial flush in the A pillar would be the best. If not and NO where else to put them flush mount them in the dash where you have them. Sorry, but I have to agree with you they look pretty bad where they are....

Here's a couple of off-the-wall suggestions:why not extend your gauge panel from 4 to 6 openings and mount them in there?they appear to be about the same size.To fix your dash holes,you can weld them shut and repaint,or glue a piece of steel to the inside of the dash to cover the holes(use panel-bond adhesive)then fill them with filler,and touch them up with a small brush.They will be practically unnoticable.

Well I am by no means up on the latest stuff, didn't want to spend alot and honestly, with 3-1/2" to the X-pipe then 3" back to 2 chamber Flomasters and 3" Torque-Tech tailpipes, the only way it will sound good is with the engine off.
What I do have is:

Eclipse CD3100 head unit
Alpine MRP-F300 amp.
Eclipse IPC-106 I-pod interface
Alpine polypropylene 6x9 three way drivers
MB Quart PTK-40 widesphere 1.6" titanium dome tweets
SoundStorm USS8 8" sub, slim enclosed w/300 watt RMS amp built in
And thats it.....................

I also want to thank everyone for their idea's and input I ended up cutting the 2-1/8 holes in the dash and mounted them flush, which looks a whole lot better, not ideal but passable. Since the dash already had holes in it I had nothing to lose. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

I like the piller post idea. It has foam backing that can be cut out. Replacements are accessible and you could possibbly use a gage mount bracket that they sell for oil, water etc to dress it up and angle it. For already drilled holes you can just fill the holes with body filler and repaint. I have 68 convertible and went with 2 Kenwood 100 watts on replacement bracket where original speaket mounted. I also have A?C and it still cleared ducting. Have Kenwood MUP342 stereo mounter in glove box with IFR repeater for remote control. This allows remote to work without glove box being open.
