Hello Everyone,

Removed my Windshield Wiper Motor assy. yesterday as it was previously painted black (all of it). From website photo's, I can see that most of the wiper assy. is natural metal color and some photo's show the lower half of the wiper motor cylinder painted black. Can someone please verify for me if this black section is indeed correct? Also, any tips on how to best buff or sand the natural metal parts to obtain the correct finish prior to clear coating? Thanks!

I'm the original owner of a 69, when I restored it all I did was clean the wiper/washer motor up. The entire metal part of the motor is unpainted. There is a plastic cover (where the harness plugs into) that is not painted as well, the natural color of the plastic is a semi gloss black. This plastic cover has a u-shape slot where the manifold for the washer & hoses comes out of. That manifold is a off white color plastic that turns a little yellow with age. There is a bracket behind the motor, that bracket is painted the same color as the firewall-flat black.

Thanks UPC-WU2. Unfortunately, the cost for me to send it down to wiperworks from
here in Canada would be quite expensive. It works fine but just needs some nice detailing
which I should have no trouble doing myself.

Thanks Don for the excellent reply back. This will help me immensely in detailing the entire assembly. Yes, the manifold plastic on mine has gone yellow but I'll leave it this way to show its originality. Nice to see that you have kept your '69 all these years - good for you.

This was posted for a 70 buick gsx. Seems to be the only good picture I have of a wiper motor.

Check inlinetubes site they might have a more detailed photo on their judge

Rustygoat, the picture you posted dosen't look like my 69. Your picture seems to have the motor part separate and pressed/screwed into the casting. Instead mine is a cast all one piece.
