I was told this shield mounts between #5 and #7 Cylinders on the left side of the motor.
I tried to mount this part there but the exhaust manifold was in the way.
Anyone have a good picture of the location of this part?

Are you going for a "correct" look or just want to use it?
My cable melted and started a small fire running through one of those things. I rerouted the cable over the inner fender and down across the firewall.

it does go in that location, but maybe you're confused because it goes between the block and the exhaust manifold. it mounts on one of the studded head bolts. When originally installed there was a fiber boot that seperated the wire from contacting the metal tube. Properly installed you're wiring will not melt!

I tried to fit the tube in that location, but thats where I was having no luck getting the tube between the block and exhaust manifold.

You're not using RA manifolds are you? If so, this tube won't fit that style manifold, you'd have to run 73/74 style tube down the back of the head or across the motor mount with a RA tube.

I have attached a couple of pics for you. Hope it helps. Starter cable shield fits in to cutout for heat shield for air filter tube. Two head bolts should have studs for ground on forward manifold shield and aft for starter cable sheild and rear manifold shield attach point.

gtonut, I noticed after looking at the pic that your shield tube is round. Mine is an oval shape. I'm thinking that why I couldn't get it to fit. Is the pic you sent me off a 1968?
I might have the wrong tube. Seems like everthing I order off ebay are the wrong parts.

Bob, I think you've got something other than what you need. That mounting bracket just doesn't look right. I've got a picture of a loose one for my 69 jigsaw puzzle. I don't think the oval vs round hurts you but your bracket looks wacky. (I think you can see which piece it is in this picture!)

Yes, another ebay item that isn't what it's suppose to be! After looking at the pic I contacted seller and he told me he would send the correct part. The heat shield should be round not oval.

The picture gtonut57 has got there is for the harness tube on a standard exhaust manifold not a Ram Air 3.
The Ram Air 3 manifolds require a tube that's bolted to the Front of the left cylinder head and goes down the front of the block past the fuel pump and make a slight bend back. The harness then sort of follows below the pan rail back to the starter. The battery cable and rest of the harness is best put on while the starter is hanging down (on the floor use a floor jack or a strong rt arm)( in the air on a hoist use a muffler/exhaust jack holder). Remember if you use these exhaust manifolds you need the heat shield for the starter/sol. otherwise the heat will cook them and sol. is ususually the first to go.

FYI For RA 1-2-3 & 4 and H-O, 67-69 the tube described above is used. Ames has these tubes, their part number is N179EK I have heard of the tube that goes to the back of the head, but I think it's for later cars.
FYI #2 the tube is also bigger in diameter than the standard tube that goes between #5&7 for standard manifolds and for me that's great because I can use heavy duty welding cable through the tube to run to the starter.
