It was an east coast 60's thing maybe.... as a kid in north Jersey mid 60's I remember a few of those. Your aunt or friends aunt had that stuff.... so when dear auntie passed on, her long out of style floral Sears sofa was perfect. Day One Survivor Status.

When my father-in-law was in high school, he had an after school job at an auto upholstery shop, and he once told me MOST of their business was in making custom clear plastic covers for new cars. This was in the '50s, Detroit area.

Of the 5781 posts on this thread, that Tempest may be the nicest car for the money on here. I would love that car for a daily driver. If it was within 4-5 hour drive, I would have to go look at it.

Fingerhut also sold a variety of other items, including clothing. For some reason my mother was on their mailing list, and they would regularly send out sales fliers for coats made out of some sort of vinyl; they'd include a sample of the vinyl with the flier, and I'd use the sample for upholstery in my AMT model cars.

It sure looks like it. I noticed that and the paint and quickly surmised that that car is very likely a high grade survivor, probably as close as you'll ever come to finding a genuine "little old lady only drove to church on Sunday" car. Shame it's only a Tempest four door, but if it's really in that nice original condition I'd still drive it. Of course, the fact that it's a Tempest four door is almost certainly what saved it from ending up in the wrong hands to get ruined.

For a New Hampshire car that Tempest looks to be in great shape. Too bad there's no pictures of inside the trunk and lower sides of the body. Even tho it's a 4 door post car I'd buy it.

I've been thru that neck of the woods many times years ago. Stayed in White River Jct every time I traveled thru there with the 'ol Anchor rig, and delivered in that area too. That's why the comment of the car looking so good even tho I know how the winters are up there. And nasty is one word that often comes to mind.
