That's an acquired taste. I actually like the 4x4 Pontiac look. A few years back I saw a 67Tempest or Lemans like that. Unfortunately it was too far away for me to buy it.
That brings up a question with builds like that. Some say the title follows the vin of the chassis; Others say the title follows the vin on the body. So would that be legally titled a Pontiac or whatever the chassis was? This comes up in constant argument over when a GTO restoration using a good Lemans body actually becomes a Lemans cloned as a GTO. Some would say it is a GTO because the chassis is the GTO. Others would say, "No, it's a Lemans because the body had a Lemans vin originally". So, with that said, is this still legally a Pontiac Safari? |

The vehicles title goes by the VIN number of the body in all states.... as far as I know. The chassis's vin number on vehicles with full frames is the same as the body unless it's been damaged or rusted out and replaced with another.

Dynacorn probably puts their own serial number on them. At that point, I guess that's the way the state would register it.

Don't miss out on an opportunity to buy a real "super cool VERY rare car" for less than $4k!!!
Of the value sources listed I do notice he doesn't mention Barrett Jackson!NOT MINE, but in my local craigslist.... http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/cto/4165655819.html ************************************************** ************** This car is in amazing condition and only has 67k miles on it. It was old lady driven for almost the entire life of the car. She passed away and left the car to her mechanic who has taken care of it since it was new (I have all service record). He in turn tuned it up to give to his grandson who ended up not wanting it. I'm technically the 3rd owner but more like the second because the mechanic who sold it to me never drove it. It's an automatic 3spd, COLD AIR, Yes COLD AIR!!! Works like a charm. Everything is original AM Radio, vinyl seats are in great shape and so is the dash. Garaged kept its entire life, no rust (except for one small ding on passenger side, see photo) Cranks up every time and purrs like a kitten. Title is free an clear. I'm about to move my business into my garage which is forcing the sale of this car. I know I will regret it because it's just a super cool VERY rare car that turns heads and provokes questions on every drive. I calculated the asking price from NADA and all the Chevettes that have sold on EBAY and listed on Auto Trader Classic. $3800.00 obo Please contact Matt 85zero.517.6zero88 or shoot me a text Last edited by DanC; 11-04-2013 at 04:56 PM. |

I notice that this "amazing condition" car has been treated to one of those paint jobs where, rather than removing them, they just paint over the emblems.

![]() I wonder, seeing the bodies are Officially Licensed, if you could use your original cowl and VIN tags with your States permission. Too bad they don't make a Pontiac A-body for 66 or 67.

I just can't imagine what someone was thinking when they came up with that. It would actually be easier to get into the car with the door closed!

Especially when you consider that there is no top (or any sign of one) to keep you from jumping right in.

I used to say, "resale red", but all that red is hurting my eyes. This is a best forgotten product of the 80's. The driver of that car probably felt like he was driving a pretty hot car back in the day. I'm sure everyone noticed when he pulled up in that, and promptly tripped over the doors trying to get out. Was the top sawed off, or was this a rare convertible model that needs immediate restoration to factory specs?

This looks like a pretty decent car to own and got me thinking about it...Until I read that the pics are 20 years old and the seller doesn't want you asking any questions. If you've read the ad, you know all he wants to tell you about it.... and don't even THINK about negotiating the price..

That front fender scares me - there's no telling what kind of damage is behind that. Funny stuff today. How about that "4x4" trailer?
