Finally getting ready to put some final paint on my 65 GTO, but got another question. Where does the body paint and the firewall paint line come together. Is it at the top edge of firewall or under the cowl seal?

Top edge of the firewall. But....it seems the Pontiac MI plant oversprayed the firewall somewhat when painting the top of the cowl.

here are pics of an original paint unrestored 66 GTO that might help.Hard to see in the pics,but where the black firewall paint is worn thin the body color,red,is showing thru down to about the 'seam'.

I thought i'd post this shot of the underside of the hood so you can see the 'overspray' areas.As i mentioned this IS the factory paint so you know it's right.

I always thought the Pontiac plants east of the Mississippi oversprayed the car color onto the firewall,the ones west did not. Larry B.
