Found a shot of an Arnie car taken at the Winternationals this year:
http://s1017.photobucket.com/albums/...urrent=014.jpg Don't know if this is a clone or the real one that was restored several years ago. Nonetheless, putting modern rims on it with modern looking slicks kills the whole effort. Nothing worse than someone building a "period correct" cackle car and then half-assing it with modern rims/rubber.

That looks like the Ernie's Camera "Shutter Bug" dragster. If so there is a good chance that I was a spectator at that race. It was at San Fernando Drag Strip ("the Pond"). Later he blew a right rear slick close to the finish lights and went through the beams in pieces at over 180 mph.

I almost bought this 70 about 6 or 7 years ago. It belonged to a guy named Bruce Lopes and he ran it in a fastest street car thing out east called trustreet. It was powered by a 461 pontiac, with FAST fuel injection done, e heads. It was fully streetable and was running 10.0's/teens at the time. It is really a LeMans made into a judge cloan. I still have the spec sheets he sent me with the car. It is a really nice ride. He was asking 20K turnkey at the time ,and after the fact he told me it went to the UK

![]() Adam, did you ever see the car launch? It twisted something fierce every time. I don't think Bruce put more than 25 run on the car- truth be told, I think it scared him.

I saw a pic of it and it was twisting some. He told me when i talked to him about buying it that it really needed an anti roll bar. I wasnt on PY back then, so i dont really know anything about him personally. I found the car on racingjunk at the time

Roger Huntington wrote for High Performance Pontiac when Nunzi was writing form the back in the 80's. He was the best for tech stuff, and influenced my writing escapades Never knew he built a Pontiac powered car

Wait a minute here, is the driver of the Grumpy's Toy Camaro Drag car smoking a cigar while staging ?
![]() I've seen old images from very old Nascar days in which the driver is having a smoke in the pits but I've never seen anything like this?

That is Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins and that cigar was kind of his trademark before cigars and cigarettes were not P/C. Many Pics of "Da Grump" back in the day showed him with a cigar. I think he just chewed it if I remember correctly, wasn't unusual for bull ring racers back then to chew on one during a race. In a rollover it kept your teeth from hitting together when your chin hit your chest.
