I have a price of standard guttering on my house of:
$619 for 5" with (5) standard sized downspouts (don't know size). or $807 for 6" with (5) 3x4 inch downspouts. The back is just a straight run. The front has a long run with two small perpendicular runs of 6' and 8'. The house foot print is a L-shaped rancher of 1416 sqft (4/12 pitch w/ two valleys on the front of the house. No valleys on the rear) It has an attached 2 car garage making it longer than just the living space. Thanks, |

And your question is?

Crytic wasn't it? The cost, does it sound reasonable?
Furthemore, should the larger guttering cost that much more? I would imagine that there's no other disadvantage to going larger? |

if its all one piece aluminum, doesnt sound to bad(price)i dont think youd need 5inch with the house dimensions ya gave.i paid roughly 400 for less and as long as its pitched well,no problem.did ya get 3 estimates?

Tell him you got a guy that says he will do it for $150 less and see what he says.

I got one estimate so far. And yeah, it's not a lot of roof footage and doesn't have a steep pitch. I'll try two more at least. One didn't return the call.
If I don't get a lower price, I'll give him the $150 less pitch. |

What is the total length of the entire job?
I sold a gutter business 4 years ago. At the time I was getting 9.00/ft including downspouts. No other hidden costs or labor, only tax added. You do not need 6" for residential. John |

The back run is about 76'. The front is a little more. Two 2 story downspouts in the rear and three 1 story in the front.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll get the smaller gutter I guess. |

do you have gutters now?are they removing the old ones? from your dimensions if you went to lowes or home depot you probably have close to 350.00 400.00 in materials such as brackets, elbows, silicone and i think the longest gutter you can buy is twelve feet.shop around but doesn;t seem high

That seems like a good price. I went with the 5" but had them put in the 3x4 downs...kind of a hybrid of the two sizes.

Lowes gutters are not seamless.

Yeah, it isn't a bad price considering parts and pieces at Lowes. I'm going seamless and I'm going to rip the old off and check the facia. They want $5 per foot to repair facia and I would have to have the paint for them to paint it before gutters--plus I'm going to change the color of the house to something. These gutters are the original steel from the mid 60s. I'll bet there are facia problems somewhere.
Question: Is there a product like Hardi-board cement stuff made for facia replacement? I want to replace the wood with something that doesn't burn. I want to do the same thing with the soffit. |

poncho i know you can buy some new materials that don't rot.i would like to think that there is something on the market that would take an hour or so to burn.maybe they sell some type of coating thats applied to slow the burn point.check the nfsb website

I'm going to look for something that isn't wooden or combustible. Wood's easy to work with, but surely there's something that doesn't burn. It's such a small amount of surface to replace.

Doug, Hardie makes trim boards and soffit if that what you want. http://www.jameshardie.com/builder/p..._hardietrim.py
There is also Azek and similar that are PVC. No rot and easy to work with, not sure of the burn ratings.
