Its been at the body shop for 3 years when it was supposed to be there 8 weeks, so the relationship with the shop owner is strained to say the least. I have pictures of the painted shell and figure I am a month away from picking up the car as a disassembled roller. Pics will follow.

I picked the car up yesterday from the body shop, and while Im happy with it overall, there are a few things that I am not. To be clear, the shop is always willing to work with me on my "picky" fixes, but I prefer to try and resolve them myself.
The most significant issue on this car is that the primer they used on the underside is NOT DP74LF, which from the start, was clear that although it was slightly brighter than the original color, it was what I wanted them to use. The stuff they used is close in color, but not in sheen. The most frustrating part is that when the pictures were emailed to me weeks ago, I questioned whether it was DP74 because the sheen was "off", and I was lied to. This was confirmed when I picked up the car, saw the can and on top of it, the supply house was delivering another gallon of the same red oxide primer. WHATEVER..whats done is done. I got a great deal as always, and I know that if I pushed the matter, they would do what I asked. I wont bring it back for something like this because I fear the car will be gone for another 2 months. Knowing that I cant live with it either, my only alternative was to fix it myself. So I spent the day under the car (on my lift) shooting it with clear. It actually worked out well, as not only does it have the right sheen, but it also seems to have darkened it up a shade. While at it, I also blacked the wheel wells out, and duplicated the undercoating in the areas this car had it. Ill post some pictures Monday. |

The "before" on the wiper motor
 The floor with and without flash, and as I mentioned, is a near exact match for the original color      This week, I hope to have the trunk, firewall, dash and rear interior lower window panel painted. Ill also have to remove the rear springs and re-paint since they are now 30% Cameo White. |

The sheen on the floor looks about right.
Are you going to overspray some Cameo white onto the floor boards around the edges like what the factory did? |

I ordered interior dye from several different suppliers based off the interior color code, as well as having it custom mixed locally, and finally settled on the color closest matching my original samples. SEM NAPA RED is a match for 1973 (and 75) Dark Oxblood.
 I should mention that the locally mixed color was dead on, but after it started peeling off the seat backs, I called them and found out they cannot make dye, just paint. I also plan on ordering the OE fabric from SMS and having the seat covers made by PUI, but it will be 3 months before they can do it, so I am going to use these dyed seat covers until then. |

A little more progress...almost finished with the trunk. I tested a small area with Duplicolor Black/Aqua, and it had more texture, and it just seemed too thick compared to original. I was about to order the good stuff from The PP, but I figured I would try Eastwood's trunk paint first, and I am every happy with the results. I still have to clear it, and it is still wet in these pics, but I think the key is that I laid a thin coat of black primer down first, and ended up using just 1.5 cans to get this coverage. I also noticed in the reference pictures I have, that there is quite a bit of variance as to how far the spatter actually goes "up" from one car to the next, so I just shot it the way this car came.

I had my wheels blasted, checked the codes, then painted one.
I may re shoot it, and just mask them with tape completely since the "mask kit" was nearly useless and nowhere near cut to the correct size of the spokes. I used Machine Grey for the back and top, and Eastwood Charcoal along with some Argent I had already. New GM caps are still available, so i have a set coming, as well as new GM cap emblems. I assume steel wool will do the trick on the original trim rings. |

What is the recommended procedure/sequence for installing the dash pad?
I removed it with the harness still in the car, but I'm unsure if the harness should be secured to the dash with the plastic retainers first, then the entire assembly bolted up and then mount the fuse box, etc, OR, does the harness go in before the pad? |

The 73 wheels have the gray on the outer rim not silver, I believe.
