Guys,a kid up the street stopped by with his new toy,a 62' Ford stepside.
He told me he already broke his yoke because of major wheelhop issues. I know how to deal with this on a 4-link,but not a leafspring truck. Will the bushings being worn cause this, like on a 4-link? Is there anything besides slapper bars to cure it? Thanks!

New shocks and bushings in the back.

I think pickups are prone to hop because they are so light in the rear. My F150 did it since brand new. FWIW

Tell him to stop revving it up and dumping the clutch- problem solved.
![]() Yes, new bushings and shocks may help, but some suspension designs are prone to wheel hop. I don't know what kind of spring pack that truck has, but if it's possible he could clamp the front of the leaves together to stiffen them and keep them from wrapping up.

I would say that he is gearing It down to fast. It is a 3-on the tree right?

My 07 Hemi Ram does it too, It's a posi, so if you give it any gas both tires try to spin at the same time and it hops pretty good. It's probably pretty normal
And like others said, truck don't weigh anything in the back

Try reducing tire pressure when not carrying a load.

Like goatless said the springs are wrapping up. Maybe when he breaks something he'll stop showing off.

Like I wrote he broke the yoke about an hour after he picked it up,so I hope he takes it easy till he fixes the wheelhop issue. When I talked to him about the wheelhop he told me "It's a pickup, they all have wheelhop" . BS! 20 years old and he knows everything!
