Default Man am I confused

I have a 66 GTO with MSD 6al box installed in trunk All wires were upgraded one wire size to compensate for distance. The problem is I am having run on in the off pos. on the ign. switch which I can solve with a diode but the car runs rough like it has a miss in it when in the on pos. but when I turn it to the off pos. it runs smooth as silk. How do I get it to run right in the on pos.???

bypass the resistor
MSD unit needs full 12+ volts
Mods need to move this to electrical so it will get proper attention

it is getting 12+ volts in the run pos. (runs choppy) and drops to 4.7 volts when in the off pos.when it runs perfect ? Obviously the placement and wiring is capable of doing its job because it will run properly the way it is just in the off pos.

It's wire per diagram. I did tie the red wire from tach adapter
into the wire going to ign and dist.
