Hey Jeff, yeah. I usually use the same posts on other boards instead of recreating a post on each. And yes those headers are "MIGHTY FINNNNNNE"! Look darn good in the engine pic. Mark L

Did a little more to the firewall enclosure.
![]() ![]() ![]() Still have to finish off the upper outside little corners to get it all done. Then mount the original brake pedal assembly and reinforce it with 1X1 tubing. Mark L

Make your brake mount with the 1x1 not just brace with it. On our rat rods we tie the brake structure/dash structure/steering column mount to the frame.

Spectacular build. You make me wanna drop my F-body thing and pick up an early Catalina... My input for plate would be CATATONIC in some form. Keep up the great work and I'll be following along.

I can only hope Troy, I do have the bracketry on the 9 inch to accept them. But I need to make sure I can spool up on the line before that thing will launch that well. But what else do I have to do right??? Heh.
79 Poncho. Thanks for the great comments and the plate idea. I was thinking of painting it the dark dark blue (Royal Blue??) color that you see on so many Grand Prixs from '63. But mixed with more flake. Then name the car "NIGHT MIST". I've always liked that idea. A good plate would be---1OFNONE--and I've always liked Catzila. But I made a song for Troys big ol' Arapaho using Catzilla so he has first dibs on the name. For a name on the car I would really like to find a good Indian name that would not be offensive but would be a strong name of tradition. In the Medicine Man /Arapoho vein. But something nice. Since it is to be under boost I'd like something the pertains to the magic wind in the Indian language. I want it respectful. Anywho that's a long way off yet. I got a little bit more done on the firewall. The upper inner corner done and some of the welds ground down. Once I'm all done welding I'll grind the welds, bondo the seams and paint the firewall. Should look pretty decent by the time I'm done. ![]() Mark L

Remember that your winter is my summer. I'm really hoping that I can get it on the road and running late this year early next. If I can drive it by February I'd be in heaven. BUT, we'll see. Mark L

and our summer is your....ummm....guess the analogy breaks down here somewhere...LOL. Get busy Mark, before the rays of our good old sun keep you indoors. (Still trying to think of some way to convince Mark that the exhaust cutout should stick straight up through the hood like a diesel's exhaust stack! He did say he wants "different" LOL)

HMMMM---I did see a really nice chrome 5 inch stack and chrome slapper cap in E-Bay, HMMMM. But it would have to come out of the middle of the hood--(for affect ya know)--. No--duals is the only way to fly. And for exhaust safety's sake, they have to extend above the height of the roof, that's what zoning laws are around here for chimney pipes, LOL!

Still more work on the firewall and installed the brake pedal assembly today. I'll use some 1X1 on top to tie into the upper original firewall to reinforce the bracket.
![]() ![]() ![]() Almost done closing up the firewall. Got the last piece shaped and set up in place. Just need to finish trim it and weld it in and the firewall will be done. I'm using body seam filler to seal off all the seams. Then I can grind all the welds down and bondo/sand and paint. That will be a good job done. The little pocket on the drivers side is there for the master cylinder. I'm debating a manual cylinder or finding a hydro-boost unit. But I don't want a power steering pump on the motor so I'll probably go manual. Mark L

Good ideas Troy. I didn't think you were ready to rename the Arapaho, heh. The hole in the lower drivers side (next to the welder ground clamp) is the original steering column bottom hole. I'll set it up and maybe even use the original steering column. Just have to take the shift lever off, clean off the bump where it was and close it up. Then it has all the original wiring to use, etc. I'll need to find a nice steering wheel. A lot of custom ones out there but I'd really like to find an original for the Cat. Just for the look. Mine is really shot although I've seen alot of people rebuild their originals. Might be a fun project to try and rejuvinate it. I have to build in the reinforcements for the brake pedal assembly. I might as well make it to cover bolting up the steering colum too. That will set my dashboard build as well so I need additional planning for all of that. Want to get that firewall done so I can start thinking about the dash etc. Mark L
