Guys, I need some help. I am restoring a 69 conv. I bought the car apart and, of coarse....many pieces missing. I am trying to put the new top on. The piece that anchors the top in the rear was missing. I bought a repo part from our sponsor, they call it conv rear tack bar. Says it fits 68 through 72. It is in 3 pieces. The guy installing my top says that it won't work. He says 68 was the only year that used the 3 piece design. He says 69 through 72 was a one piece unit. He says I need the one piece unit. I called PY back, they said they really didn't know about the difference. Any ideas????

Ames sells a '69-'72 Rear Tacking Rail (p/n H120G, Page 116 of catalog G26). I would call them to see if it is a 1-piece (1-800-421-2637). Interestingly, they don't list a strip for the '68.

It looks to be 1 piece in the restoration guide (page 106). I can scan it but can't post it here (too big). PM me your email and I'll send it.

Does anyone know......Will the 3 piece unit work on the 69? I have never worked on a conv top, so I am really lost on this one. How does the thing attach to the car???
