Rich, I've used Ceramics on the old cars more than once with good results and no dusting like is going on here. Either way It's getting another set of pads on it in the short term future.

Took a bit tonight and installed the receiver drier on the Prix tonight. HAd to pull the front valance to do it and slide the radiator back towards the engine. Still wasn't too bad. Valance came loose with a 1/4" air ratchet as did the drier bracket. New Orings on the
Dumped a couple ounces of oil in the drier, new oiled o-rings and pulled a vacuum on the system for 1/2 an hour. Held vac for 10 mins with no loss. [Didn't expect it to as it still had vacuum in it from when I installed the engine a couple weeks ago. Oil has dye in it so if it does leak I can black light it and find it quickly. 4.5 pounds of R-12 [yes I have a cyl stashed!] and She's blowing COLD. Storm moved in and I didn't have a chance to road test it for duct temps but I'm guessing it's solidly in the 40's from my short hop with it. If the rain lets up I may run it into town and fuel it up and do a temp test then. If not tonight we'll see what it does tomorrow on the trip. One thing's for sure, if the temps hit 90 like the weather guessers are predicting It'll be a good and welcome test for the system. Don't remember if I mentioned the drain plug was seized into the diff housing or not. Previous grease monkey /idiot tightend it down until the corners rounded off in the plug. Welded a bolt in the plug and still no joy, bolt started to twist off. Heated the housing up, didn't come loose. Ended up with a Large Snap on Air chisel to hammer to plug loose and pulling it the rest of the way with a ratchet. Topped the fluid off and installed a new plug. Mike

Yeah I keep Blaster in GALLONS. The diff plug was the result of a gorrilla not corrosion.
A/C blew cold on the short run in the rain last night. I'm going to throw a thermometer in the ducts today and see what the actual temps are on the road in the sunlight and 90 heat. Mike

Hmmm, makes me want to evac and charge up my '69, but hate to spend the money. 4.5 lbs of R12 would cost me about $180 through my work.

Forgot to take the duct temp guage with me. Car got cold tho, kids were bitching up a storm that means it works!
Had a rattle develop in the exhaust, and noticed the tires had rubbed the 1/4's a couple times with a full tank of fuel and kids. Bagged the rear springs today and it seems to have solved that issue. Moved a clamp and solved the rattle. ut about 20 lbs of air in the bag, got a stance now, interior is quiet, life's good there. Underneath I saw the LR axle seal started leaking during the trip. Will solve that first of the week also. Upper control arm bushings are on the list also, they rattle over a sharp bump. that ****'s not going to fly on a 4 hr trip. This thing's turning into a car.

Had to have a "talk" with the wife tonight that wasn't appropriate in front of the kids. Found out the car doesn't like family conflict. Right Front Tire blew apart @ 30 mph. No loss, no harm no foul. Now I'm on the hunt for tires for the front, not a bad thing as I'm driving it to WV for the POCI meet in a couple weeks.
I realised, after a bit of reflection, that I bought those front tires in 1988. Can't bitch about the lifespan of them and if I'd have realised they were that old they'd have been gone before I mounted them on the car. Changed the LR axle seal today bearing was fine so that's done. Moving forward again. On a side note got a compliment on it today at the gas station from the weights and measures guy. Said his dad had one with the same wheels and a two tone paint scheme. Wanna bet it was a Hurst car? Mike

BTW tires ordered will pickup late today or early tomorrow morning. Old girl will be sporting a full set of BFG's.
Tire issues piss me off. Need to clean the interior up, and try and get the greasy hand prints off of the laquer paint that was sprayed many years ago. Patina sucks up grease like a sponge. Maybe that vibration will be gone for good now. Been chasing it since I got it driving. Mike

New BFG's in a 235 60 14 mounted balanced and installed this eve. One hotlap down the road and back as a storm was rolling in and I needed a shower badly. felt a lot tighter than the previous tires both of which had belts broken in them. Construction must've been hard on them.
