I just drove to Bountiful, UT from Hesperia, CA. I'm staying with my sister and her family right now, and had plans to continue on to Iowa next week. Unfortunately, my car developed a vibration in the back at highway speeds about halfway through the trip here. It has since gotten worse.The u-joints are new. When I built the car I used an 8.5 junkyard rear from a '72 Skylark with a Nova posi diff. I had a guy set it up in his home shop with a new 3.42 gearset. He said he checked all the bearings and clutches and all seemed well. He did say the pinion seal was bad so he replaced it. When the vibration started the first thing i though was an axle bearing was going out(had this happen twice on my '68 Prix years ago, and from what I remember the sensation was similar). I have taken both wheels off and checked for play but both sides feel good. I got under the car and the pinion seems to have excessive movement (I guess there is supposed to be none). I don't have the tools or know-how to fix this myself, and I have limited funds (I can spare a couple hundred maybe, which would leave me just enough for gas). Can anyone help me or recommend someone who can? I originally rebuilt everything on this car myself except the engine, trans, and diff. So far the engine spun the bearings, and I rebuilt it, and now the rear is junking out. I better keep an eye on the trans, ha. Jim
