Default vacuum line question???

Hello....

I have a 68 GTO with hideaways, and have read that I can delete alot of hose, and plumb my lines off the carb instead of all the Emission stuff??? I have an HEI that I will need vacuum for, and the hideaways...other than that I know where the PCV valve goes. I just thought if I could remove that piece from the water jacket, and the lines from it I would. Do I need full vacuum from the intake for the hideaways and do I need the check valve inline still for them?? At this point it is still the factory carb...I haven't decided if I am going to go with an aftermarket or stick with this.

ANy help will be greatly appreciated.....John

I would make sure the vacuum is manifold vacuum not ported vacuum and if possible run it off a vacuum reservoir.
